Friday PRP tidbits (7-20)

The Trojans held what might be their final PRP session of the summer this morning and it was an abbreviated session, we got different responses from different players as to whether or not they will be holding any sessions next week. Pac-12 media day is on Wednesday which is usually the time when the summer sessions stop so that the players can get some time off before fall camp starts.

Matt Fink got things going by hitting a couple early completions to Velus Jones, and then a completion to Erik Krommenhoek got the ball to the 5. Fink went under center and hit Michael Pittman for the short touchdown.

Jack Sears was in attendance but he did not take a series so it was JT Daniels up next, and he hit Devon Williams on a curl route against Olijah Griffin and followed that up quickly by lofting a touchdown pass in the right corner of the end zone to Amon-Ra St. Brown against coverage from Greg Johnson, and Amon-Ra responded as he often does with a ball spin. The final play of the short PRP was a Daniels pass in the end zone to Williams against Griffin, the ball was juggled but it looked to me like Williams came down with the ball for the score. The defensive guys didn’t think so and they were signaling no catch while the offensive guys came running downfield to celebrate with Williams. Even Daniel, as he left the field, was asking the media “was that last catch good?”

Several players, including Fink, stayed on the field for a good half hour after the session ended to get in some extra throwing.
