Graham Harrell is (at least) a very good coach, if not better.

That was Harrell's offense that moved the ball up and down the field with ease. He used many more players than the week before to good effect.

Of course, Harrell is the one who earlier this summer judged that Slovis was perhaps the best quarterback talent he had ever seen. Many knowledgeable fans doubted this, but being the quarterback coach, he was in the best position to make this judgement. At least based on one game, he appears to be a shrewd judge of talent.

Slovis, of course, played great without any look of hesitation. Congratulations to him. Remember who his quarterback coach is. Harrell took a guy who was thrown in to a high pressure situation vs Fresno State and worked with him over the last week and look at the results.

Only one game, but it sure looks like we have a powerful offense for the year.

    Fight On Graham and Kedon!

We learned, that if this team continues to develop and progress, they will give Alabama all they can handle next season.

And Helton as he chose JT to start. Harrell wanted Slovis to start and we were told it was Harrell's call. It wasn't. Helton made the call for JT to start. I am very encouraged by the play of Slovis and trust Harrell's evaluation of talent. If Helton stays out of the way we have a chance. Think about that our own head coach is our biggest obstacle into being a successful team. Fight On!

I don’t think we learned that yet. Let’s not jump the gun there.

Great TEAM WIN for USC but “Helton Haters” gotta spew their venom into EVERY thread. All one had to do last night was WATCH SC’s players leave the field after a big TD or Defensive STAND and watch them interact with their HEAD Coach...whether anyone on this board likes it or NOT, Clay Helton is STILL in charge and HIS players are Fighting On for HIS Team.

    Fight On,FOREVER, Fight On!

We also saw the players come off the field during the tOSU massacre and then again in the 5-7 debacle. It was a great game last night where SC hasn’t looked that “put together” in a long time. But, it was one game and it’s still Helton. As much as we’d all like to see Helton succeed we’ve unfortunately seen enough of him to KNOW he’s a schmuck. Let’s hope change is occurring and the team benefits.

Very happy about the win. Just asking that you come back to reality. We have final four talent and we are not ranked. Of course kid's celebrate with their coach after big plays, that doesn't make him a championship caliber coach. Watched the LSU v Texas game yesterday. Two top ten teams with less talent than us. We are not relevant. Respectfully RB4SC don't you want to be relevant again. We have top 4 talent. You tell me why are not we ranked at least top 10. I don't believe I am unreasonable to ask that our coach take top 4 talent and mold that into a top 10 team.

Teams aren't ranked on talent, they're rank on production and wins, something SC severely lacked last year. Now that SC has a better coaching staff that's starting to get results, the voters will pay attention and move them up.

    We learned:
    1. This “Air Raid” offense provides HUGE running lanes for our RBs
    2. We have the deepest group of WRs in the PAC-12, and I’d even argue the country!
    3. Our DL is going to carry this defense
    4. We need our DBs (outside of OG) to grow and mature fast to be able to compete on a national level
    5. We need to get Stepp AND Carr in-game reps instead of having them on the sideline so often.
    6. This team COULD be special if someone doesn’t get in their own way..

USC Football is not ranked in the TOP 10 because they were 5-7 a year ago...if they CONTINUE to improve and play and COACH to their potential, then they’ll work their way back to the top. Whether we like it or not, the TEAM HCCH is coaching and STILL in charge of played fast, physical, and INSPIRED football last night. If they can continue to string performances like that together, THEY’LL be relevant in spite of THIS board’s opinions.

    Fight On, FOREVER, Fight On!

How do we know this? Is this true?

If so, helLton screwed the pooch twice in the same manner, first with Browne over Darnold, and now Daniels over Slovis.

Jury is still out on helLton. Stanford could be a mediocre, overrated team.

One thing is for sure, Slovis and GH are the real deal. And our WR corp.

Unfortunately for Daniels, he ain’t getting his J-O-B back.

When I saw this I immediately thought of the words to the Jeffersons Theme song "Moving on up" Good for us as we play a few higher ranked teams in the next few games so we have a chance to move up further. Let's see where we are ranked in the AP and coaches poll as they haven't come out yet. I would love to get to top 10 in the next 4 weeks and we will have opportunities to get there. The only thing that trumps my dislike for Helton is my love for the kid's on our team. The joy after a big win is priceless. Fight On!

No. Helton did not make the call for JT to start. He deferred to Harrell on the QB depth chart.

But Harrell did know what he had in Slovis and it was just a matter of time before we were going to see Kedon. A coach doesn't roll out the type of superlatives we heard from Harrell about Kedon, then controversially name him QB2, without a design.

JT, as much as I respect him, would been overtaken by Slovis even without the injury.

    what did we learn
No position over rates stars more than at QB
We have the best O line in 11 years
We have a shut down corner
Our wide receivers are even better than expected
USC Game day is still the best sports ticket in town
We got some great real young talent
The wifi does not work with a full house
The noise you hear is the bandwagon coming round the corner

He doesn't know it. He's just making it up.

Helton shouldn't be head coach at USC, but it does no good to just post BS without any facts.

would anyone say Bobby Bowden was a great coach, the best coaches are great leaders and surround themselves with talented assistants. I hope Helton has learned a valuable lesson

It was a heckuva a nice surprise. But let's be realistic. There's a long way to go before the team is competitive with Alabama. And let's remember that two seasons ago, USC played a *great* game against a much better Stanford team in game two of the 2017 season. In spite of a decent W-L record, it was the only good football that team played the entire season. If 'SC puts together a string of surprising wins and beats Notre Dame playing good football, then we can talk.
