    Shorts and shells practice today.

Dorian Hewett joined the players sitting out with injury.

Devon Williams was back in action.

We saw Tyler Vaughns, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Adonis Otey and Olaijah Griffin returning punts.

Kenan Christon, Stephen Carr, Michael Pittman, Velus Jones, and Vavae Malepeai worked as kick returners.

Graham Harrell was asked about the quarterback decision and he echoed Clay Helton’s statement that he and the entire offensive staff had the same order. He said it came down to consistency, which Daniels and Slovis displayed better than the other two. He said it was clear to them all that this was the direction they needed to go and that it puts them in the best position to win.

He continues to rave about Slovis’ arm, saying he makes throw other guys can’t, but said he was hindered by a few freshman mistakes. “Talent-wise, he’s as good as I’ve ever seen.”

Harrell drew laughs when asked about how much of the offense he showed during Saturday’s fall showcase.

    Harrell said: “Enough.”

I hope we really get to see Keenan Christon return punts. This would be one of the opportunities where he can take the corner and take off. Thanks for the report as always!

Reading Harrell's extremely strong words about Slovis may put a new wrinkle in this. They may really feel that Slovis is the future and how immediate of a future he is depends on a few things. Sounds like JT may just be keeping the seat warm for him for a while. I was all in for Sears but that was because he wasn't the Daniels I saw in 2018.

“As good as I’ve ever seen” are very strong words by Harrell. Sounds like he thinks Slovis is better than JT but didn’t win the starting job due to lack of experience and freshman mistakes. JT cannot assume he will be the starter next 3 years, or even all of this season.

    Slovis = the future

Interesting, I thought JT made “throws only elite QBs make” coming in, according to a bunch of people...

Harrell has been using those words for some time now about Slovis. It's clear he sees something special in Kedon and has since the Spring, basically.

Well, Harrell's words of praise for Slovis is probably interesting reading for Bryce Young.

Russell didn’t do too bad in college and was the #1 overall selection in the NFL draft. His bust of an NFL career was more due to mental issues than his talent.

    Wow, that's another unfortunate comparison.

Can't recall which well respected poster, (Helix/Bestlaker) said it was a waste to give Slovis a scholarship. Wonder how he feels now.

At SD Trojan Club Graham said Kedon had a special arm. Sears was a better in game player but not always accurate. He could run but that wasn’t what he wanted in his O. He said QB wouldn’t hold up running. He did say Kedon was just right for his O. JT better not stumble I think.

Bunch of baloney. If your QB can't scrap then you ain't winnin' crap. How many pretty passing QB's did Nick Satan have? There's a heap of discarded QBs with big arms who were accurate but couldn't lead worth a damn come crunch time. Give me the game day QB who can put the entire team on his back and carry them to victory. Give me that guy and I'll show you Championships.

Yep. Only one QB plays. If Slovis is that special, I don't see Bryce sticking with his commitment. Elite QB's aren't looking to enter into that sort of competition. Think Justin Fields...

The bigger question, will Helton bench JT if he was playing like shit? We saw Nick Satan bench Jalen in a NC game. I think Helton doesn’t have the balls to bench him and will take the lost.
