    To replace Helton.

There is his buyout, thanks Swann you worthless AD. Then we have to lure Urban, he was making about 8.3M at Ohio State plus his staff was well-paid.

The only thing that we have an advantage of right now is if we fire Helton immediately and make our play before other schools start firing their coaches. I know ND would love to be rid of Kelly. So step one has to be to relieving Helton and lining up the money. The ROI could be almost immediately, I have read that 25k more tickets equals 2 million more a game of net revenue not counting ancillary income.

We have cheeped out, been lazy and frankly incompetent in our AD & coaching hires. We've a new President and new AD. The President knows how much a good coach matters to the flagship sport ( UNC and basketball) and our new AD knows the capabilities of Urban. There is just too much smoke and frankly energy demanding a big time hire....you can't give us a up and coming coach at this point. That would have been last year...not now. We have a flood right now and the only thing that will plug is going to cost big money.

Posters here consistently make the error that the USC admin cares about football. USC is no longer a football school. It is a left wing liberal arts school like Northwestern or Boston College. It wants a decent team but football does not wag the dog anymore.

Even if this is true, empty stadiums and 64th ranked recruiting classes will change the calculus

It's not like all that $ is due upfront in one lump sum on the 1st of the month. This amount is spread out over years, and would be paid off from increased receipts from having Urban as coach.

If that were true how did we pay for the Grey Lady's remodel? Using your logic that would have been stillborn. We have the people and the money, you keep thinking that this is in the hands of people involved with academia.

USC brings in around over $600 million dollars. They can afford to pay Urban Meyer very easily, and a great coaching staff also.

With a new president, we’ll have to see where priorities land. A renovated stadium needs butts in the seats. If they make a statement hire, we’ll know you’re just talking out of your ass.

Correct but about 17-21M immediately which is not insignificant. It starts with firing Helton.

Any dipshit who cites the USAToday as a legit anything should immediately just STFU. If you are capable all you have to do is read the yearly IRS documents the school must file yearly and extrapolate who is getting paid and what. If you go back you can even see how much we paid Lane and for how long. If that is to complicated for you...well too fucking bad.

It does start with firing Helton, which is money lost. They’re going to have to eat that thanks to Swann. The portion that covers the hiring of the new HC isn’t money lost, but rather an investment that should pay off with the right hire.

I hope you're wrong, but I fear there is an element of truth to what you're saying. We're hemoraging legacies to other schools including TCU and Alabama where kids are having the USC experience of 40 years ago. I hate the liberal garbage I hear anecdotally about USC.

If CA continues to slide into the dark ages, there is a risk that CA college sports will suffer as people leave the state and their kids grow up in the SEC and Big 12 states. Recruiting will be tougher, even with the weather advantages in So Cal.
