    Two things:

    1) Please do not ever quote Helton again. It’s offensive.

    2) Mediocrity is measured in Heltons.

“We are going to look at the tape?”

Who dafuq is we? Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles?

    “We believe in championships here...”

I’m pretty sure I do too, just not at USC with you at the help. But I assure you championships do exist - for programs with good coaching.

There is a thread where it was asked if there was a link to the presser. This was before this piece by Erik was posted. People wrote in with what they thought he would say. If you haven’t read it, I’d suggest you do it. Some of them sound more Helton than Helton.

Helton's comments are unbelievable. He may be the all world college football charlatan. And we pay him $3 million a year.

How does he get away with it?

    I can't believe it.

    I am a physician.

I make about 1/10th what he makes.

If I made 1/10th the number of mistakes as him I would lose my license and I would be out of a job.

    Revised thread title:

USC ends its 2019 season by getting blown out in the Holiday Bowl

Not unexpected, however, I am looking forward to the annual Rose Parade & Rose Bowl Game. My god, the snow covered San Bernardino and San Gabriel Mountains are absolutely spectacular this winter season and they will provide a breathtaking backdrop to kick off the new decade for the most beautiful sports venue on earth.

Keep the Faith, Trojan Fans. Things always look darkest before the dawn. Our beloved Trojans will return to glory as surely as the mighty snow covered mountains of southern California have returned and the Rose Garden of Exposition Park ever shall bloom for Ol' SC.

Fight On, God Bless everyone, and please have a Happy New Year!

Our second worst Bowl loss ever, worst bowl loss since the 1940s. Helton continues to add negativity to our football history.

Cupcake teams perform like cupcake teams. USC was soft when they got off the bus, they'll be soft if they throw up at Tommy's, they'll be soft if every student on campus rolls over in laughter at the very mention of the football program.

When you align with Clay Helton, this is automatic. He's not angry at allowing 49 points. He has to watch tape. He has zero comprehension toward the play to play physical intensity required at this level. Contrast to John Robinson after the 1981 season Fiesta Bowl mauling by Penn State. I asked him in Heritage Hall if it was a jolt. Robinson sat forward in his office chair, "Damn right it was a jolt."

At least the other team I root for -- the Canes -- offers some variety during its ineptitude. Al Golden had no defense, Manny Diaz has no offense. With USC every time the coaching hire is one I absolutely despise it's for exactly the same reason. There was cupcake certainty in a Ted Tollner era, cupcake certainty in a Paul Hackett era, and now cupcake hilarity in a Clay Helton era.

I have to laugh at the calls to fire Clancy Pendergast. What does it matter? Dictation has to start from the top.

That defense is horrid. Tackling is a joke. Looked like it was Bru McCoy who whiffed on the first tackle on the 98 yard kick off return.

Wow. Just wow. I really thought this team would rally for one more win. It’s over. The Helton experiment must end now. Our defense was so bad. So bad. The worst I’ve ever seen. Clean house. Now. Today. Helton is wayyyyyyyyyy in over his head.....

Complimenting Iowa on 3rd down efficiency?

Seems like the USC defense is the common thread when teams like Notre Dame, Washington, Oregon and UCLA as well all seemed to enjoy "3rd down efficiency" when playing the Trojans.

Sad that USC's d-line was on several plays pushed 5 yards downfield and were powerless to stop it. Iowa's o-line dominated USC. Nothing fancy about Iowa, just man up and maul your man. When was the last time USC had an O-line that could maul? 2005?

Jayden Williams. Bru McCoy didn’t play this season. John Baxter mentioned Williams after the game and said when you’re in position and get your hands on a guy in that situation, you have to tackle him.
