I keep seeing people questioning the talent that we have. Listed below is just a sample but it shows that these "overrated" players could be playing at Alabama and just about every other top program.

ISAAC TAYLOR-STUART - Offer & visit to Alabama.
JT DANIELS - Offer from Alabama.
OLAIJAH GRIFFIN - Offer & visit to Alabama.
AMON-RA ST. BROWN - Offer from Alabama.
PALAIE GAOTEOTE - Offer from Alabama & Auburn
VELUS JONES - Offer from Florida, Michigan, Cal, OU, ND, UT
TYLER VAUGHNS - Offer from Alabama.
STEPHEN CARR - Offer from Georgia, ASU (visit), Michigan, UT, Washington
MARLON TUIPULOTU - Offer from Nebraska, ND, Ole Miss, Michigan, Oregon
Josh Falo - Offer from Alabama.
AUSTIN JACKSON - Offer from Alabama.
GREG JOHNSON - Offer from Alabama.
Markese Stepp - Offer from Alabama.

So, Nick Saban the greatest coach arguably ever would have loved to have had these guys. Yet we have fans that call them overrated?

    --------------------------------------------

24/7 sports has us as the 4th most talented team in college football.

    https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/

And if you are curious about how accurate those statistics are. Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, FSU, Texas, OU, Clemson, and Penn State are all in the top 10. 8/10 teams are currently in the top 15. FSU and USC are the only teams under performing.

And surprise both USC and FSU have average coaches Willie Taggart and Clay Helton. Before Taggart arrived at FSU they were a top 15 team.

There is no justification for the way our team has performed the past 3 seasons.

Trojan Campaign is absolutely right on this. Does anyone really think that we aren’t far more talented than Fresno St who we squeaked by, and BYU, who beat us?

This is a very talented but poorly coached team.

It almost makes me feel bad for the players. These guys could have been playing anywhere else but the CHOOSE USC. And in return we give them Helton.

The talent is whats keeping the team from losing 49-14 and having to travel to a top 10 team to be their bitch for a million bucks.

Obviously our talent is overrated, by this board at least. Outside of the WRs, how many of those folks could crack Bama's current starting lineup? Or Clemson's? And without giving it much thought, aren't JT & Carr exh. 1 for being overrated, at least so far?

Rating in high school is where "overrated" comes from. Plus, Najee is on a better team and better offensive line to run behind and lots of blowout wins against some high school teams that he can potentially rack up big numbers, maybe 4 games each year. This year he gets to run against new mexico state and the always powerful western carolina.

So you're saying that Carr would start for Bama? Not being pedantic, just trying to be clear.

And no, "overrated" doesn't come from the star rankings...it's posters watching these players and convincing themselves that we have CFP-level talent, if only we had CPC or Urban as coach. They've forgotten what a real championship team looks like, as CPC's teams were. Go back and look at the roster that crushed OU in the Orange Bowl.

I don't see a single player on this team that cracks the starting lineup at Bama, Clemson, or Oklahoma. Maybe it is the system, training, or coaching but it's night and day watching the players on those teams and everyone else. They look bigger, stronger and faster at every position. Even ND as a legit top ten can't compete with them. Any of those teams could put 70 or more points on us if they went all out for four quarters. We have benefited from playing in a soft PAC conference. That has inflated our win total by two or more games over the last couple of years. Even in Darnold's Rose Bowl season we weren't a ten win team without a very soft PAC conference.

Not over-rated, just "coached down" to a mediocre level. Shame to waste good talent like this :-(

The whole argument that these players would not start for X team is ridiculous. Obviously they wouldn't right now because they haven't been developed or put in a position to succeed on the field. The point is not that they were "overrated," it's that they haven't been developed as much as they would have at Clemson, Bama, even ND, etc. Had they gone to one of those schools and received proper coaching and strength and conditioning, they would be starting on one of those teams.

All these recruits are on equal ground when they get to college, but you consistently and on average see USC players look worse than these schools due entirely to coaching and development. No way 20+ 4 and 5 stars are all overrated. There's really no possible way that Saban, Urban Meyer, or any other SEC or Big10 coach ended up offering all these players that were "overrated." If you disagree let's revist in one or two years (depending on who USC hires) and see these players drastically perform better.

Our 4 and 5 star recruits are no different than Alabama and Clemson’s 4 and 5 star recruits out of high school. The coaching is the difference when they get here.

Carr hasn't been the same since the back injury. I thought he should've redshirted last season. He needed a years rest before returning to the football field. Injury and the Helton effect has taken its toll.

I think a handful or more SC players would start for Bama.....if they had originally signed with the tide out of HS. I get it. You're basing your opinion after seeing them post HS. But, that's the issue: you're seeing players under Saban's tutelage, and comparing them to Helton's. Not remotely close to an even playing field. I look at guys like Austin Jackson, and AVT. Top 15 at their position out of HS. They're good, but why aren't they dominant? Here's some examples: what if Tua had signed with USC, and everything else is status quo. Would you project him the starter over Jalen Hurts? We've seen this QB deal play out right before our eyes? Heck, RJ II needed to put on 15-20 lbs of muscle AFTER leaving USC. The guy was under two bills while playing for Helton. How many Bama players need to add that kind of muscle when they get to the NFL?

No way I believe all these 4 and 5 star recruits were that overrated, by all the recruiting services. A few of these guys were totally dominant in HS. They could've played at any program.

Is anyone actually saying our talent is "overrated"?

    I haven't heard it.
