To everyone blaming Fink...

Slovis threw three interceptions against BYU. Washington is much better coached and has a lot more talent than BYU.

Slovis isn't our savior.

 

Well, it’s pretty obvious Fink isn’t either. The way things are going, I’m afraid our Savior, if he even exists probably hasn’t hit puberty yet.

 

I am not blaming Fink, but Slovis is a more accurate passer. I will be happy to get him back for ND.

 

Matt Fink is a decent kid who tried to win a game and came up short. That happens. Half the QBs who started today came up short. Matt isn’t terribly gifted athlete, and he likely won’t play in the NFL, but he won a big game for SC, what more can you ask?

 

Slovis threw 3 interceptions against BYU that he wouldn't have thrown against Washington. The BYU game taught him something the coaches did not: looking for the disguised coverage of LBs dropping back in the middle. Washington did the same thing today and I highly doubt Slovis would've been fooled by it again. Fink on the other hand, this was his first time playing against that coverage. Fink might not make that mistake again, but he still does not have the talent that Slovis has.

Also, I don't blame Fink. I blame Helton and the QB coach for not preparing him for that kind of coverage since BYU used a similar coverage.

 

We will see how Slovis responds after taking the big hit. Psyche is important after taking a brutal hit. It definitely affected JT last season as his fundamentals drifted. Time will tell.

He wanted to go back in the game against Utah and the head coach didn't let him. He wanted to play against Washington but the head coach didn't let him.

 

Slovis is lightyears better than Fink. Not even taking into account that 1 is a true freshman and the other is in his 4th year. There’s a reason Fink came back to SC. No one else wanted him.

 

C'mon, man. Don't go there.

 

I don’t blame Fink. He’s the 3rd string QB. I blame the coaches for ignoring the run game early on a soft 5 front. 5 men in the box = run play. USC decided to pass on 7 of 1st 10 plays. Baffling...

 

Who’s blaming Fink. It the ongoing hubris of the fucking “system” instead of game planning to what we have and what’s given. Fact is Udub wasn’t that tough and we had the opportunity to run it down their throats and we didn’t. Shame on the staff for not putting our players in a position to win according the the field of play.

We also need a jumbo type set in the red zone....predictable we are...

The Head Coach doesn’t make decisions on concussions. It’s 100% up to the medical staff. Neither him, nor Hufanga were cleared to play.

Ps- doesn’t matter which starts vs ND. We have no chance, so start Fink and let Slovis come along properly. (And maybe we’ll have an AD by then...)

I disagree. Those first two INT’’s vs BYU were not a case of Slovis being fooled by coverage, they were poorly thrown balls. It happens.
