Otherwise, you are back to the question of why they got rid of Drevno in the first place since he coached successfully in the NFL.

Is it a one year deal tied with Harrell’s contract? It is hard to take a one year contract unless you are currently unemployed and have no other options. If they are going to the NFL, unless you are unemployed, you really have to think it maybe a 1 year deal with Helton. Bohn has his work cut out! Fight On!

Pass protection is different how? It’s hardly football reinvented. NFL coaches have seen all the defensive fronts and schemes necessary to pass protect against. We need someone to improve the run blocking, too. Fugg, it’s FUNDAMENTAL.

You start with line splits that are as much as 3X wider than in normal pass protection. The OL also pick up the pass rushers farther behind the LOS which creates wider passing and running lanes and tends to negate stunts. Last edited: Jan 15, 2021

Bohn and Sosna, based on how they ran things at UCinn, keep their search to a closed circle and use data/analytics to assess coaching candidates. They are not swayed by who you know and prior connections to the university. They also want to maintain a competitive advantage in looking for coaches, avoid salary bidding wars, and are not going to let names they are considering leak. If a name makes into a website/news site rumor the "unnamed" source is pretty sure to be the name's agent. Case in point is the aforementioned Brad Davis - USC talked to him but didn't talk salary or make him an offer. So his agent drops his name to a news site, in an effort to push USC's hand by getting Arkansas to counteroffer even before USC has made an offer. Look at how Bohn and Sosna handled the Donte Williams hiring - no rumor of that until the deal was done. So any name that pops up as a "strong" rumor is probably an indication that USC has moved on from that name. J4SC75 likes this.
