Game day!!! I am so looking forward to seeing what CAE has done with this year's team. It is so very important that the Trojans can stay healthy. The seniors need to have a big year, Bennie Boatwright and Shaqquan Aaron, by not forcing shots and keeping their teammates involved.

Bennie Boatwright gets one final shot

Fight On! Trojans go get this win.

First half, nothing special. We have too many guys who will want playing time and shots and it’s only going to get worse when Boatwright returns.

Porter needs to be our star on offense, if the other guys let him.

    1-0

One heck of a run (30-8?) but needs to play less sloppy (cliche I know) against teams with better bigs.

Good game at Vandy. Hope that game its like the final 12 min of this one.

Very undisciplined, but some serious athletes on this team. Don't think Porter Jr has any concept of team basketball and seems mostly interested in showing everyone on every play how (very) high he can jump, though he has a sweet one dribble pull up. Thornton and ball security should not be in the same sentence (at least not last night).

Nick struggled early, but rebounded well in the 2nd half. Jonah had a very nice all-around game and I can't say enough about Shaquon and the way he let the game come to him instead of forcing the shots we've seen in the past. Might have lost without his 2nd half contributions.

Glad to get past that one, but team play will need to improve dramatically and quickly. I'm hopeful that a lot of the issues were of the "first game jitters" or overlooking an over-matched opponent, so I'm cautiously optimistic moving forward.

Was at the game last night and it was encouraging to see that students showed up. Had some members from the football team in the house (Carr, Vaugns and a few others couldn't pick out) This team has talent but it took a tirade from an assistant coach in the second half for this team to get its act together. Aaron will have a big year, Rac is very solid in the middle. Porter looks great for his first game, he can probably match up with anyone on the floor. Very athletic. Matthews is going to have to handle the ball more, the PG play is a concern. Usher still puts his head down and draws charges and has tunnel vision but his tenacity if coached up will be a great asset.

Considering the injury situation this camp the first half wasn’t surprising to me. But as all have said the second half was much better. And the kid (Porter) looks as good as his hype, but will it translate to college bb? Many have said he’s more a pro than college player.
I just wish RAC wouldn’t be inclined to dribble so much, seems like it allows the defense to collapse around him and he’s not that strong. JMO.
Great first game/win. On to Vandy.

Vaughns played a little basketball at Amat....

Was sweating bullets in the 1st half...team played much better in the 2nd half....Usher seems to have regressed?

When is Boatwright expected back...needs his scoring for this team to have a shot against the better opponents...

According to CAE, “when he feels like it”. Guess that means he’s day to day.

Unless Boatwright has improved, we will be fine without him. Honestly, unless he’s shooting around 50% (which seems to be about 4 or 5 games a season), the team does better when he’s not playing. Hopefully he’s much better this year, that would be a welcomed surprise.

Agree. He has been a huge defensive liability as well. Hopefully, he worked hard on his footwork and upper body strength - we need rebounding help on this roster and he could help in that regard.

Would love to see him rededicate himself to working underneath the basket rebounding and playing defense. Perhaps his discussions with nba teams after last season lit a fire under him.

Hopefully, Elijah Weaver is the real deal. Thornton is not a point guard. Dribbles with his head down and has no idea how to run pick and roll. Plus, he's a horrible defender. Usher needs to sit. He has bad feet, can't defend his position and makes terrible decisions. Starters should be: Matthews, Nick, Shaqquan, Bennie, and Porter jr.. with Uyelemmo and weaver when healthy. Sorry to say but there is no place for Thornton (turnovers), Usher (stupid play) and O' Bannon (poor skills). Wanted to see Brooks play, but seems like he's gonna be a project.
