If that's how you feel, you might as well attire yourself in blue and gold and climb aboard the Chip train.

And it wasn’t just Book, we couldn’t stop their running game. We had a chance to pull this one out, all we had to do was make a stop but couldn’t do it, even when a penalty left ND with a 1st and 25. They just continued to bust through for 10 yds or so per run to put the game away.

You sure like that term, ball washer. You must have a lot of hands on experience.

I most certainly do. Mine are very hygenic. I'm sure The Situational Master's are as well, courtesy of you. Your man love for this clown of a coach is beyond explanation.

It's year four, game six. When are they going to teach edge containment? When are the players going to grasp the concept?

You must've missed my post where I mentioned Helton needs to go if we finish 5-7, 6-6 or even 7-6. That's man love to you?

    Yes.

8-4 is horrible for the 5th most talented team in the country playing in a weak conference.

That's being a basic chick. USC isn't basic.

The players can play up to superior competition even with the coaches dragging them down.
The coaching always coaches down to inferior competition though. CF: Fresno State, BYU this year alone.

Oregon is an L, ASU as well. I'm thinking the Colorado game is 50/50, it's in boulder...

Without the Velus Jones kickoff return for a TD, and then the last minute interception in the end zone, USC might have lost to Fresno. They were significantly outgained by Utah in their win over the Utes, but managed to win by 7 mainly due to Whittingham's stubborn insistence on staying in his base defense and Pittman repeatedly winning jump balls on deep throws.

The point is, playing the game you are playing above, USC could be 1-5 and too.

I don’t see this team “running the table”. I do see them, however, “running into the table”.

Best go revisit the stats, because Oregon has the top Defense in the Conference.

You apparently do love Helton, and the sane ones on this board can't figure out why.

I have been giving Clay the benefit of the doubt all along, though was for a change after last year. After some hopeful news from the summer, I came to the conclusion, after the BYU game, that there is no improvement happening. Hoped with new coaches and Clay playing more of the CEO we might be okay, thought I've never liked the idea of putting lipstick on a pig.

Here is why you are not going to be right on this:
    1. The offense is not better with the Air Raid or with Harrell calling the offense. Stanford was a tease, but that is the only time it looked like we had an offense. Players are there, but playcalling and choice of players on the field is not helping them excel.
    2. The defense is not better, some of it youth, but a lot of it is schemes. Good players are playing less well. Clancy just doesn't seem to come up with a scheme that works, we always are trying to make adjustments late. Good coach for the NFL, not cutting it in college.
    3. We don't practice in a way that translates to solid play in games. We have had tackling issues in every game.
    4. Our special teams are not special. Took half a season to turn the Aussie loose. No returns after Fresno State.

So that's all facets of the game not working, other teams are improving, and you think we'll win out? You think Helton deserves to remain coach? Fortunately, the new AD will talk to people in the know and move quickly to find someone new.

Let's face it our defense sucks. The only way we win this season is by outscoring opponents. This means Colorado, Arizona, and UCLA will be sure wins. Without Garbers, I don't think Cal has a chance. Oregon will be a loss for sure. ASU is a toss up. They play good defense, but I am not sure if their offense can hang with us. Still if UW beats Utah, we will be in the P12CG. A certain loss will spell the end of the Helton regime.

Haha.. Great Point Mr.Boulder. I can debunk the OP right off the bat by addressing question # 1

What is your definition of better this year? Not getting beat as bad?

At this point in 2018 USC was 4-2
    Now 2019 3-3

If you think 3-3 is better than 4-2 you're using fuzzy math.....

This is all true. AND, it's still true that Clay and Clancy deserve to be fired.
