    There is.

I'm not saying GH couldn't look for a new job after signing a 3 year deal with USC...he can do what he wants.

But I do think he's a POS for doing that. Something I wouldn't do.

I value loyalty and honoring your contract/word/signature. Especially in College Football since you just told a bunch of kids that you will be their coach at USC.

Full disclosure: I've never been employed with a big boy football program. And in that world, loyalty and honoring your word are laughable - get paid!

I get both sides but this POS OC was coaching is Nowhere Texas 12 months ago and now he's a household name all because of USC. What did USC get out of that relationship? 8-5.

    It is what it is.

This just possibly might be the best thing that could happen. Clay sinking faster than the Titanic with Lopes & crew out of the way?

My guess is the buyout is around $1.50.

Actually Harrell is stable at USC
He will be on the clock at Philly
He has to develop a reputation before he can go gallivanting

It's been a long time since we had an actual defense or special teams, and now possibly no offense.

Sounds like a perfect Helton trifecta!

Only reason I wanted Harrell to stay was because the offense would at least be interesting to watch....

Very true, but does it have to be so flippin painful for the fans. I strongly, intensly dislike Haden, Swann, Nikias, Folt, and Bohn. Losers all.

It is the world of college football. Not a lot different on the player side either. USC is one of the few schools that honor a 4-year letter. Most schools renew year-by-year, and of course the players who are top notch leave early and now some don't even bother with playing their bowl game.

To be fair, we also don't know what kind of fresh hell it is to be on the coaching staff. What kind of boss is Helton? What kind of shit is flying around right now with the lastest firing? How BAD have our athletic directors been? It's like leaving a comfy job to go with a pre-IPO company only to find out they are almost out of funding and won't make the IPO afterall. How much loyalty can there be after one facking year?

You never turn down a chance to interview with someone... it's part of your experience in the industry.
The smaller the industry the more important it is to increase your chances to improve yourself and your chance to
move your career ahead. Get to know more people that make the decisions and let them know who you are and
    what you want long term.
You cannot fault Graham for doing what he should do for himself and his family.

Even if Harrell stays at SC, his credibility is done. New 3 year contract means nothing to him. He is window shopping and will continue that behavior next season. Mr. "I told you" is quite full of himself.
Harrell goes, I would dump Helton and get a new coach immediately.

I’d do that regardless of Harrell, but we don’t have any say in it. They aren’t going to fire Helton for the time being.

He should have done his lashing out in December, so he could do the right thing then. Now he just looks incompetent.

If I was GH, I'd interview with the Eagles. If they give him an offer he can't refuse, and he thinks he's ready to step into the Philly frying pan, then he can take it. Even if he plans to stay, an interview lets other NFL owners/GMs know that he is on the radar of at least one NFL team, and he's someone to keep an eye on.

It's win-win for GH whether he stays or goes.

There are only so many lifeboats.......so it pays to grab one and let the others talk about morality.......message to all white star ships from Captain Helton.......taking on water but the music is great.

Sounds like they could wire the money straight to UC Davis.

My guess... he gone. Why even think twice about coaching under Clay Helton, who is dead in the water, when you could be in the NFL next season? One good season in the NFL as an OC and he could be a college head coach 2 years from now, or even in line for an NFL head coaching position.
