I never saw him play for the Trojans, but I watched him as a Ram and he was a great running back. RIP Sir.

The Jaguar was my dad's favorite player growing up and one of the reasons why he loved USC so much. RIP Jaguar John Arnett.

Very sad to hear of Jon's passing. Not a good month for former Trojan greats.

I saw Jon play many times both as Trojan and the Rams. He had lived in Manhattan Beach for years. I use to see him around. After he retired from football he pretty much did not talk about it much.

He ran back the opening kickoff for a td vs. ucly in 1955, only to have it called back for offsides on USC, a rarely called penalty. (I have never seen it called since.) I have hated cheating ucly and Pac Coast refs ever since. He remains the greatest Trojan player I ever saw.

That touchdown called back against the bRuins cemented my passion for USC. As a kid I thought that was so unfair.

I remember that kick return .. it was such a great run as a young child I could have cared less that it was called back
To me Arnett was so much better than the opposition it made no difference
    A unique talent

He came in 2nd in NCAA, and USC won the National Championship on a team stocked with Olympians....and yes, that called back kickoff cemented my lifelong HATRED of ucly.
