It's an interesting close to the schedule for the Pac-12 South contenders.

USC's finish is brutal, with trips to Oregon and Utah, home games against Arizona State and Washington to finish the year. Arizona State's finish seems to be one of the easiest, with Cal, Oregon State and Washington State among its final four games. Utah has the same kind of challenge USC faces, as the Utes close with Arizona State, Oregon, USC and Washington as four of its final five games.

Will there be fans at Rose Bowl?

Larry Scott just said that won't be a Pac-12 decision. They'll leave it completely up to local health authorities.

Is that right that we have a short week to begin with, travel to Utah on Wed or Thanksgiving day and play Friday night?

Second half of the season is a nightmare!

    Thanks PAC 12.

I think they want to make sure this is played, in case of a surge later on...

A Thursday local Pasadena news story had this hint...

"According to a staff report in a Finance Committee agenda released two weeks ago, the Rose Bowl Operating Committee is expecting a 25 percent reduction in fans and only about 13,000 fans could attend the games due to social distancing guidelines if fans are allowed inside the stadium at all."

    https://www.pasadenanow.com/main/ucla-football-season-could-open-in-september/

Also last month USC said they could only have 15,600 (or 19% of capacity) for events in the Coliseum under LA County Health Department social distancing rules.

Backloaded is right! The original schedule sure looked a lot more balanced.

I still think it's really a shame that Notre Dame is not on the schedule.

If they're not undefeated going into the bye week, I would say he'll be in big trouble.

Joint statement from UCLA and USC athletic directors, as the door is absolutely open to move that game to the end of the season:

"We are pleased with today's Pac-12 announcement of revised scheduling details for 2020 fall sports. We understand the great interest in the 90th edition of our historic football rivalry game, currently scheduled for Sept. 26 at the Rose Bowl. Though we are progressing toward the start of our respective seasons, as this time we do not have the necessary county and state clearances to begin competitions. Developing a scheduling model for the fall sports season that provides optimal flexibility was an important next step in the process. In particular, our football schedules create the opportunity for us to shift our season-opening dates later in the season (Oct. 31 and Dec. 12), if necessary.

UCLA and USC are in absolute alignment, and we remain in regular communication with state, local, and university officials. We will continue to follow their guidance with the utmost regard for the health and safety of our student-athletes."

The schedule is ok except the FRIDAY NIGHT game at Utah... Friday night games should be scrapped this year. Safer and healthier to play in the sunlight.

Could have been worse... five school actually have two Friday night games; Oregon, UCLA, Utah, Washington, and WSU... and only Oregon St has none.

Like everything else these days with the pandemic, who knows if the game with UCLA will actually be played in Sept or Oct or December? At least the current scheduling provides the most flexibility possible to ensure that the game can actually get played one way or the other ........

Hard to imagine a game in the Rose Bowl with 12,000 fans - I would assume they would all be UCLA fans (ok maybe they will allow 500 USC fans but seat them in the top rows in the end zones)

Does UCLA ever have 12,000 fans show up for a football game? Even before the pandemic? I bet the ones that show up this year are cardboard. (Of course those will show more spirit than the live ones!)

Erik, you called the ucla opener!!

Chipster’s team don’t play well at the start of the season so this maybe good for us. But then again we have Helton, so maybe not. For sure Chip cannot game plan properly against our defense the way he did in 2018 since he has no film on it.
