But he was fired from Nebraska! (Had to...sorry). Actually Nebraska paid him for almost 5 more years after he was fired.

 

And he won 9+ games each season at Nebraska

 

Nebraska probably wished they had him back.

I was interested in him as DC because he recruits and develops DL.

But at 2.3mil?...

USC needs to start getting some more revenue to compete with some of these schools

 

Now that's a solid hire. Coach O is on a roll. LSU's defense won't suffer any drop off but may even slightly improve under Bo.

 

I suppose I could look it up but clearly they gave him a massive extension then fired him soon after.

 

I am not surprised. Bo is good friends with Pete, so O had a connection here.

 

Pelini frightens me. Hopefully he'll be under a bit less pressure at LSU than he was at Nebraska. The dude looked like he was 3 seconds away from biting a child's head off.

 

Didn’t Bohner call Pete for advice? I thought I read that somewhere but doesn’t matter bc these bone heads don’t listen to successful people but rather surround themselves with losers.

Guess things were different 25 years ago.

Pelini got in trouble for being truthful with Nebraska.
I still don't know why he never received another HC job.

What did him in was when they released the tape of him calling them a bunch of fair-weather fans.
But since he left they have been horrible.

The guy is intense and takes football serious. Good traits in a football coach.

 

The difference between a winner and a loser.

A winner asks several successful HC's for advice and only consider candidates who are the best in their bussiness. Then they fight to bring that guy in.

LSU Dave Aranda now Bo Pelini back to back top tier hires. Both Pelini and Aranda have a NC defense to it's credit.

A loser asks a few guys he knows and hires the coach that was the easiest to hire.

Todd Orlando may turn out to be ok but he was an easy target.

The dude was humbled by being fired and demoted to an assistant coach/ LB assistant.

Just about any team. That offered him a DC coordinator position would have gotten his attention.

In other words a lazy hire.

 

One thing is obvious about Pelini...he thrives on physical football ! LSU will be tough again on defense.
Now he has to find the right QB and OC to complete the recipe for another NC.

 

Let's keep in mind they are losing all starting LB'ers, 4 of 5 most productive tacklers, 7 total defensive starters. Then you've got the departures of Aranda and Udezi. No matter how good of a coach Pelini is or isn't, you can't replace experience with a snap.



Dude is an unhinged asshole. He and Ed may end up nose to nose.

 

Actually Assoc HC and LB coach by someone who was his HC at Utah State. AAccording to your criteria Joe Barry would have been a lazy hire, ditto Rocky Long

Oy, now that's some top notch loser thinking from a usually sharp thinker. Yeah, I get it though, putting aside your Orgeron Derangement Syndrom (ODS) and absolute hatred of LSU is difficult, nay, maybe impossible for you but stop throwing cold water on the good fun we're having for those of us who were 100% on the money about Ed's Head Coach material abilities, of which you missed almost entirely.
