He couldn't not officially reclassify before the Dec 20th signing day, but will sign in February. JT will get one more shot to play with Amon-ra at the all star football game in San Antonio in a couple weeks. I would not be surprised if Amon-ra commits to USC that day. longshot10 likes this.

If Sam stays, JT redshirts, but gets reps with the team and is in a better position to compete for the starting spot in 2019. If Sam leaves, then JT shows up in August, and has to try to win the starting spot in a few weeks, competing against a couple of guys with time in the system. Sam Bam likes this.

This will not be an easy task, especially for a true freshman, regardless of how good JT may look right now in HS.

Fink and Sears might have something to say about that. They aren't exactly chopped liver, you know, and they know the system. Last edited: Dec 23, 2017 DJ4SC, DaFireMedic and TrojanHorse like this.

Don't think that JT would be guaranteed the starter even if Sam leaves - sure, with Sam HCCH and staff might have learned a lesson from Sam's case about taking the best guy even if there is an incumbent in place, but as we have seen Sam is a pretty special case. Nice to have JT coming aboard for Fall 2018 camp but jumping to any conclusions about Sam and/or JT at this point going forward seems to be pure conjecture (which of course is certainly allowed for a chat group like this) but which at least should be recognized as being a reach of sorts.
