You all remember when USC had that DB coach who was the worst recruiter in college football, then we got rid of him and now we have all this talent on the DB? What was his name, and what's the new DB coach's name? I get all mixed up, sorry.

I think you mean that LB coach who couldn’t land any recruit about 2 years ago.

One thing I noticed the past few years is the staff taking not only good players but players that want to work and are in the gym or on the field in their free time trying to get better. I think of players that weren’t that highly rated or ready to play in high school (like Kana’I, Vorhees, B Pili, Juliano Falaniko) that have showed up and put in the extra work to get in shape to play early. And then other players (like ARSB, JT, Solo, Marlon, Hunter Echols, the list goes on) that have been working overtime each day/night to get better.

Then looking at the list of recruits/commits right now it seems like all these guys are putting in extra time in the gym/on the field to get in better shape, like Chris Steele, Jason R, Stanley T, etc.

Seems like HCCH is trying to bring in those “blue-collar” guys that he always mentions he wants the program image to be.

That is one of the points I am trying to imply.
Whether it is the persona, the work ethic, the family background, when HCCH does not go all in on a prospect, I don't get as frustrated as I used to.
Again, it makes me believe there is some sort of checklist/background check that HCCH runs before he goes "all in" for a prospect, and if they don't pass the background, or a red flag comes up, we pump the brakes and move on to the next prospect on our list.

Totally agree. I still think we missed on Jonah as I think we really wanted him (as with Laulu), but every school - yes, even Bama - will miss on several guys they really wanted. In the end though, I think we will make out just fine with our recruiting, including the O-line.
