29 year old Jamie Lovemark appeared to be threatening the lead yesterday for a brief period and is currently tied for 9th in the Memorial -- 5 strokes behind the leader. He's currently 69th in FedEx Cup rankings and seems to be primed for a nice season this year.

Lovemark was a two time All-American while at USC.

He had a good solid tournament.
His best year on tour too.
He'll break through with a win by the end of next year.

He gunned a long one at 18th, ended up at six under. Very close to the leader

Currently Tied for 4th, one behind the leaders. A few folks still have a chance to go lower though...

Two good rounds of 69 for Jamie... one back of the leaders going into the week end.

Presumably, he will be taking a lot more interviews tonight and tomorrow morning. It will be interesting to see how he holds up Saturday and Sunday. If he can finish the US Open in the Top 10, then he has the mental fortitude to do big things.

I remember Santa Margarita High School Golfer Beau Hossler leading the US Open midway through round 2 only to fall apart on Saturday from all the sudden attention... of course he was only 17...

Well he didn't completely fall apart, but he definitely did not hold serve on Saturday and Sunday, falling to T27 and -1

Still moved up slightly on Fed Ex Rankings though -- up to 60

Double bogey to start the fourth round. Didn't look good for a while but he has two birdies since then and is starting to gain some momentum again

Decent fourth-round. Finished tied for 3rd. And with that qualifies to go to the British Open.

And moved up to number 41 on the FedEx Cup rankings

Jamie had another solid tournament. The double bogey on one cost him the tourney but he battled back and stayed in the hunt. A good paycheck helps, but the Open spot was the big win for him today.

Xander played well again this week and won it when he hit it stiff on 18. Nice win.

5 top ten finishes on the year.

Clearly his best year so far on tour

He needs to break out and win one

It's just fun to watch a Trojan's ascendency. My hope is that some of the best players in our own backyard will come to USC instead of going elsewhere. Beau Hossler comes to mind.

Jamie started the John Deere at 3 under

Jamie's in good shape for the week end. Just outside the top ten right now. Even par is a good place with a lot of high scores today.

Jamie couldn't keep the bogey man away after making birdies. He wasted an ideal day to move up the leaderboard with his even par round. Four birdies and four bogeys.

Well he's getting solid experience. Hopefully he can build on it next year. 22nd at the British ...he was 27th at the US Open. Currently 37th in Fed Ex Cup Points.

Jamie Lovemark is in 43rd place in the Fed Ex Cup Standings, but decided not to play this week. I know a lot of the players that are 'safe' want to take a week off before the 'playoffs' start.

He tied for 33rd at the PGA championship so that is about his recent level. I might have thought he would not want to take a week off and risk losing his rhythm. But the other thought is maybe he wants to work on certain areas that have been giving him difficulty? Hope it doesn't back fire.
