Since Bohn said (paraphrasing) that this year's record was "unacceptable," then it appears that anything less than 10-2 and Helton will be gone.

I'd wait till he actually does some actions that make it appear that anything less than 10-2 is unacceptable. At this point, he's a salesman in my book.

I agree that he's a salesman. But if the football program doesn't succeed, then Bohn doesn't succeed.

When Helton fails next year there will be more excuses. They're not a reality they're a mind set.

Some variation of this is extremely likely.

Yet he (or someone above him) accepted it this year, just as Swann did last year. This has me concerned about what will be considered acceptable next year.

With this Bohn-head decision to bring back Clueless, SC will be cemented in mediocrity until Bohn and possibly Folt are gone. Bohn is going to be extremely hesitant to fire Helton next year as it will make him look like a bigger moron than he already is. Unfortunately for Bohn, he has tied his legacy to this clown whether it was his decision or Folt’s. Even if Helton were to be dismissed do you really trust that this second-rate, wannabe AD and clown-show administration is capable of making a home run hire? That is a pipe dream. Luckily Folt is not exactly a spring chicken so her tenure will probably be short due to age. Bottom line, It’s going to be a tough 3-5 years folks...

    LOL

Many have gone past that point. To each his own regarding how much they can stomach.

I'm watching games from the comfort of my TV. My $$$ are staying away from USC. It obviously won't make a dent to USC but I'm doing it on principle.

Why not? If they don't succeed then we will just get a new coach anyways.

Has not been the case the last few years, why would it be the case next year?

I think if we had gone 5-7 or lost any of the games while Bohn was AD then there would have been a change.

Look at the schedule. We lose to Alabama at "neutral site", ND at home, Oregon on the road, Utah on the road, Washington at home. Stanford more likely back next year. We are looking more like 6-6 or 7-5 if lucky. Why would we do better?

I agree. 6-6 and 7-5 seem about right. Helton on average is an 8 win coach the last 3 years but that number is also skewed by Darnold's magic one year. If we use a a 2 year average then 6.5 wins is the average which falls right within your predictions.

Unfortunately for us, USC football is pretty much finished.

It's funny how everyone on this post is convinced a coaching change will put SC into the CFP. I agree CH is not the answer and a better coach has got to be out there. Are you prepared to go through the same charade in 3 - 4 years when your expectations are not met?

Helton's payout drops next year; so his job security will also drop. He'll have to do better than this year or he's gone, imo.

Helton's coaching ability isn't so much the problem, imo -- the big problem is his recruiting ability. I'd rather see an average coach who's a great recruiter.

I am always in for one more year. I may not go to the games. I may turn off the TV in disgust or yell and scream and come near to tears when Notre Dame beats us, which they always will in one year or another. I came back for eleven bitter years in a row unable to beat Notre Dame. Every year I came back. You always come back. These assholes in disgust are just that... assholes... fan-assholes. They will be back either happy or sad. But they will all be back.
