Fight On! From the interview I read on another site, he seems like solid kid that is not afraid to compete. His dad seems like he fully supports his son's decision. This was an excellent pick-up.

Actually makes sense as a WR. Certainly not a position of need, but still a solid pickup. Wonder if there is any discussion with Bru about moving to LB??

Bryant looks promising and any signing of a local star is good news. But at 5-10 165, his size is a concern. He certainly needs to get in the weight room fast. Also we sign wideouts like we used to sign tailbacks. We need to keep the local talent on defense here desperately as well as on both interior lines, too, though.

And believe me they know this because Graham Harrell's tweet begins "LOYAL TO THE SOIL" so they know kids locally are giving up on their program, or at least that people believe that - because it's true unfortunately. And we all know what needs to be done to change that back for the better.

Welcome to USC, and welcome to the Trojan Family, Gary. We're happy to have and your family here with us , and hope USC helps make all your hopes and dreams come true on the football field, in the classroom, and all your endeavors going forward.

Bryant was getting quoted at 177 lbs. today.

Greg Biggins said Bryant has put on 12 lbs. of muscle and seems to be still growing....so some hope there. Amon-Ra will show him the way in the weight room.

Either way, the guy is quick and explosive, a precise route runner.

Nice to at least get somebody beyond OL. Hoping he puts on some muscle, and can come in and compete for a spot in the rotation. Would be more thrilled really if the kid was a corner. Still think we need guys on that side of the ball more.

We’ll need him to score our 50 points a game needed to win in the upcoming years.

We moved up 20-something spots in the recruiting rankings with on pick-up? Wow. Is he one of those very rare 8-star recruits? Get a couple more next month and we're top 10, baby. Woohoo!

A 4 star is definitely welcomed at this point since USC is struggling on recruiting front but was hoping it was DL or OL recruit. We have plenty of receivers Amon, Bru, Vaughns, Drake J, Kyle Ford, etc. It's a good pick up on paper but may not move the needle impact wise next season especially since coaches have shown inability to take advantage of speed guys like Christon.

At this point we are just a QB & WRs football program. We are now Texas Tech with better players.

RB, OL, DL, DB, etc get lost in the shuffle. Helton is huge reason because he has no clue how to run a program top to bottom. He was an average OC who lucked into the HC job at USC because of another incompetent in Haden. The problem is he never truly grew into a HC since he runs a one dimensional program based heavily on finesse and passing.

Bryant should be an asset. At least wenow have someone who will return punts instead of fair catch. But all of the concerns expressed above by others are valid; Bryant will only marginally move the needle on the offensive side. We need more commitment to developing and actually using a run game to create favorable down and distance and also to relieve what is sure to be a fierce pass rush on Slovis. In my view, this means plenty of carries (and screens) for Stepp. When healthy he was by far the most impressive and threatening of our backs.

The real problem, as we all recognize, that will determine our fortunes next year, is on the defensive side. The right DC is critical. We need someone who will unleash the natural aggression and athleticism of our guys to make plays, meaning tackles for losses and takeaways. A major reason why Clancy's defense became increasingly ineffective was its passivity and predictability. Opposing OC's needed little time to figure out how to attack it. And as we saw, the same scheme was used to great effectiveness in the Iowa game. I continue to be amazed at how many times we were scored against during the season by a player who went in standing up. Against Iowa, they appeared to go in virtually untouched.

Welcome to Gary Bryant, but we remain far from being a team that can Helton claims is ready to compete for championships.

I don't want to rain on Bryant's day by interjecting the other recruiting failures of Helton. The kid brings much needed speed and explosivness to the roster. You can never have too many of those type players.
