Yup....they sure are falling apart.......this is their last weaker year.....after this those recruiting classes are going to put them where we used to be a few years ago. The entire pac 12 needs to beat them this year or.....its going to be a long five years.

As it should be the case. Now our receivers will get to battle him out on the field.

By the way, his scholly counts towards Florida’s 2019 class, not Oregon’s. Oregon got a bargain deal!

We’ll see how they’re recruiting momentum plays out on the field. But yes, it’s not a good sign they’re taking top Cali players. If I am correct, Ducks got 8 of the top 50 Cali 2019 recruits, including Steele.

Which makes no sense because the Ducks gave out 25 scholarships. There should not have been room for him.

There are always methods of opening up spots on a roster. Just depends on how aggressive the coach is willing to be.

"Coach Donte. Our relationship is known." Steele said of the Oregon coach. "Me and that dude, he’s like a big brother to me. The opportunity to play for somebody who is going to care about me off the field but at the same time is going to develop me better than other people, it’s a win-win situation."

This makes me more WTF on his decision to sign with Florida while having the above with the guy who recruited him for Oregon, along with the bling Oregon has and the perceived come-up they are projecting. Just makes no sense. Plus, if the family wanted SC and SC is short of bodies in the DB and he's a local, I would assume it wound't be a hard decision, especially if you were a past commit. I would say the same if he was from the other side of the country doing this to other schools. Just a head scratcher, and I don't scratch my head at all.

Hope all goes well for him.

One could suspect that he is very stubborn and prideful and cannot allow himself to attend SC after decommiting before. Could be that simple.

I have to agree that if Donte and his relationship was that great, why did he not go there in the first place. He could certainly be reaching for justification of the move. BUT, whatever... let it lay where it is and let's just TUNE his ass up when we play them.

I would change aggressive to how ruthless a coach is willing to be. Cristobal will likely have to take a schollie from a current player to make room.

Good points. In any other year with a different coaching staff Steele is ours to lose. But he like many other local kids chose to go elsewhere. The real issue is that the California High school local recruits talk among themselves and and decided pretty much collectively that that would not play for this coaching staff. Oregon and Washington got 18 of the top 50 California recruits. SC got 7 This does not bode well for the future.

Many words could be interjected there corrupt - moral - generous or as you prefer ruthless. Good luck to him, hope this saga is over.

Really? So why did Saban fail to get him? Or perhaps Ed O? There’s more backstory than Oregon is great and we suck, much more.

As am I. He did not want to come here. Can't really blame him. Now if we take care of business on the field and go 9-3 then the recruits will come back. It really is that simple.

Because they got equal or better players to fill their Quota at that position. Pudly we were 5-7 with a lame duck coach that cant' prepare players for the NFL. It is not your fault don't take is as such. My gripe has never been with you. It has and will continue to be with the incompetents running our football program.

Erik McKinney in his Mailbag answers of May 13 provides the best assessment of this...

"A: First of all, my read is that USC doesn’t have a 2019 scholarship to offer Steele. I believe they have used their full 25 initial counters after adding John Jackson III and now Drew Richmond as a grad transfer. Anybody they add at this point would have to count against the 2020 class, which would mean bringing in a blueshirt player this fall and putting them on scholarship after two days of fall camp. Again, that’s if my math is right. Schools won’t often confirm their scholarship situation from class to class because they like to have some wiggle room to make creative moves in cases like this. I think Steele going to USC makes a lot of sense, but if the numbers don’t work, it might not be an option."

If Steele wanted to come here he would have not decommited in the first place. We are USC we don't need to make excuses. We get better on the field and the players will come back.

It will be interesting to see how clean he can stay over the next few years up there. So far, he sounds like a whole lot of trouble to me.

I'm getting bad vibes about Mr. Steele. I wish him well but predict he will fall flat.
