if true, a lot of people would predict success for Lake

Lake was given the DC title and paid a ton of money to stick around (Peterson's longterm DC stepped down but stayed on staff). Wonder if this was always the plan. Tough in Seattle right now, regardless of their disappointing season

Cowherd is suggesting USC should hire him on the spot! I hope he's plan B or C but not plan A (Urban Meyer). IMO, that widow closed with Pat Haden taking Sark and now USC should move toward CUM if they're planning to make a change at all... ;0)

Let the Chris Petersen to SC rumors begin. Coincidence on timing? Who knows...Colin Cowherd seems to know.

I have a hard time believing that he is an option at USC

Petersen taking an Admin role at UW, he's retiring from coaching (burnt out), per Colin Cowherd. He will not be the next SC coach, Cowherd's words not mine.

I just heard the news up here. I was listening to talk radio here in Seattle. They said that Chris was not comfortable with the environment. He was not crazy about all of the press attention and was kind of reluctant about even coming to Seattle. He was a lot more comfortable with Boise. I think he just did not want to deal with the pressure at UW from what I can gather.

Edit: Listening to Brock Huard up here: He seems to think that Peterson was not comfortable with all of the nuances of recruiting and was not one to compromise when choosing who he wanted. He did not want to have someone who had "issues" ( whatever that means) and take a risk with them because they were a great player. This seemed to go against his values and was probably at odds with the boosters and alumni.

The beauty of a Petersen hire is you get a DC package with him..

I knew the Jimmy Lake Co-Defensive coordinator thing was not going to work. What's the saying two many hands in the kitchen spoils the stew.

Bohn should make a run at Petersen maybe he just needs a new start. His carrer win loss record is 146-38 he knows how to win

So maybe the reports that SC and Petersen mutually decided he was not a good match here (when he interviewed with Haden) were right. If he was uncomfortable with press in Seattle, he wouldn't have been happy here.

I know this on a very good source...Patrick C demanded CP keep EdO(who wasn’t staying anyways. CP said no, my team, my staff....Haden got butthurt and bailed.
Then the BS talk about a bad match surfaced. Bottom line, Haden knew he couldn’t push CP around like other bootlicks.

Did the Petersen Pat Haden interview go like this?

    Question 1:
You don't really want to coach at USC do you?

    Question 2:
The traffic is horrible in LA are you ok with that?

    Question 3:
Most men look fat in Cardinal & Gold color shirts. Is that going to cramp your style?

    Question 4:
The smog can get bad in the summer time do you own a CPAP machine?

    Question 5:
If I hire you can I pick your assistants. See we must keep Clay Helton and John Baxter are you on board with a this?

    Question 6:
I'll offer you 4.5 million a year but the State Of California is going to take 15% of that every year. You can afford to lose that much income right?

    Pat Haden:
I'm sorry we couldn't come to an agreement Chris. Good luck in the future.

ESPN said he is staying on in some "leadership" role with the UW athletic department. That seems really strange. Can't imagine that arrangement lasts long. Particularly if he is not a fan of Seattle. Sounds like burnout after a disappointing season.

I just know that all the talk about it being “mutual” only came after he met twice with Haden.

The Jimmy Lake co DC situation worked out pretty well for Jimmy Lake.
