Anyone know his status at USC. If he is still with us why in the heck is he not coaching LBers

Because DC Orlando coaches the LB's.
Also the staff is only allowed a certain amount of field assistant coaches, I think 9 is the amount. One of those is a TE coach LMAO!!!!

 

Why does SC need a TE coach? Haha

 

Hell we could combine the TE, RB, OL, and LB coach into one person. Sasquatch will do.

 

It’s all about off-field mental stimulation and positive thinking.....learning how to cope with being a blocking pawn and not a rook....and hanging out with the OLinemen instead of the “skill guys”. Takes a coach to get through this transition.

 

Does Sasquatch have any eligibility left? He'd probably make a great left tackle.

 

Was there not some rule where Claiborne could not coach(on the field) for a period of time due to having coached HS?

Don’t think it had anything to do with his past HS position. He’s limited by his role. He was not hired as a coach but a QC Analyst.

 

The issue when he came to the program was that he had not yet finished his undergraduate degree. His HS coaching was a slight issue in that he couldn't be involved in recruiting kids from the HS he coached. At least from my limited memory.

 

I believe the lack of an undergrad degree delayed his hiring, but the issue about having limited “on the field coaching” was due to the QC analyst role. Thought he couldn’t direct the players and give “coaching” per se, but could be on the field and observe to provide QC. That’s what I recall. Also, am not aware if his role has changed from the initial hire position. If he was promoted to a position coach, then belay my last.

 

I think he was hired as an offensive analyst. So he is taking some Air Raid classes. But his job is probably to study the defenses of other teams.

Seriously, Keary Colbert had been the TE coach previously. Why not let him take over along with WRs, many of our TE's are hybrid, and open a position for Claiborne to become linebackers coach, freeing Orlando to focus on the big picture.

 

That just makes too much sense. Helton won’t be with that

 

ASU Board reporting Clairbone has been offered the LB coaching position. If true, Herm putting together a nice staff.
