Yes we do, making close to half our limit of recruits this year OL. The thing is schools who develop 3* talent have been for a while and have RS SO's and Jr's developed and ready to fill in. We don't. We are going to have a void and have to play these 3*'S before they have had those years to develop. We have only recruited 1-2 OL per yr the last few years and we are going to see the results of playing these 3*s early.

Agree that we have compounding issues for OL regarding quantity AND quality.

There's a separate debate around what kind of quality to take, then there's a separate debate on what players we currently need due to previous starvation of OL's in the last couple years.

Agree, due to our low numbers, relying on 3-stars to play early is a recipe for disaster, and not at all what other top programs are doing.

You take what you can get until the team starts winning.

When Drevno players get high draft status recruits will come back. Undrafted FA a turnoff

McKay always recruited big O lineman. The gutters were forced to take smaller but quick lineman. When asked the difference McKay said he preferred big fast guys over little fast guys. Rankings prior to a senior year reflect the camp circuits. Chad Wheeler was light due to playing volleyball. Only three stars. 4 year starter and NFL player.

Most of us do not see enough players, and know enough, to tell if we are getting a hidden gem, or a 3 star player.

True, but statistics say you can't make a living gambling on only 3-star OL's, it hasn't been done at a top level. Bosie St., UCF or Wazzu can occasionally reach the Top 10 w/ 3 star OL's, but can't stay there. The Top 10 teams all recruit top players.

The "hidden gem" strategy makes for cool stories with the occasional Marcus Marriota, but it's not a winning strategy...especially with this coaching staff.
