USC247.com's Chris Swanson reports that USC five-star ATH signee Bru Mccoy will transfer to Texas.

Per Swanson, McCoy will arrive on campus in Austin next week. The expectation is that he will be required to sit out the 2019 season to satisfy NCAA transfer regulations, though Swanson hears that the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder will be trying for a waiver which would allow immediate eligibility. We're guessing that that waiver would revolve around Kliff Kingsbury's decision to jump from his OC gig with the Trojans to the Arizona Cardinals. McCoy had been an early enrollee with the program. Should this transfer go through as looks likely, it's a stellar get for Texas HC Tom Herman. On the 247Sports composite board, McCoy ranks as the No. 9 overall prospect in the 2019 class. He has upside as both a linebacker and a receiver.

No one knew that a fired HC from Texas Tech with a losing record would become the NFL flavor of the month. If you asked me to bet on success or failure of KK as a NFL HC, my money goes on the latter. NFL stands for Not For Long.

Agreed - however Arizona has a QB that they need to develope and KK has done a pretty good job with QB’s. I don’t think it will work out - but I have been wrong too many times already today.

Do you have inside info or just speculating? Genuine question. Hope it’s the latter at this point...if not then sheesh.

And he has already contributed more information than you. Why is he a clown? Because he was right and you can't handle the truth.

Honestly, while I really like Bru's game having him was a luxury not a need. We will be fine at receiver.

I get what you're saying. But the issue is that in all likelihood he isn't going to be replaced with a similarly talented lineman or cornerback. Also, being "fine" at receiver is how you wind up with a group like last year, where there are several guys who can do some good things, but nobody who is a truly dominant player. Having that one dominant guy can change an entire offense, and Bru has a chance to be that.

If it was a trade for a 5-star offensive tackle, it doesn't hurt as much. But this is a pretty symbolic loss.

Amon-Ra doesn't have that chance? Devon Williams doesn't have that chance? Kyle Ford? They all have the ability and athleticism to be a 1st or second rounder and dominant college player. Bru does too. We have the most talented WR corps (sans Bama) in College Football. I don't even buy the sentiment going around that this is a "symbolic loss".

Desean Jackson, De'Anthony Thomas, Manti Te'o, and Jalen Ramsey are all MAJOR talents that have slipped through our cracks over the recent years. They were all 5 stars and had stellar college careers. We're they symbolic?

We are spoiled as a fan base and as a result have become very, very pessimistic. Bru is a tough recruiting loss, but we have had way worse over the past 10 years.

I think now we should be concerned BOTH Ford and Puka decommit. We could go from having too many receivers in this class to having 2 (1 of which will probably be more focused on Bball).

Then Pittman and Vaughns will leave next year and all we have is ARSB, Devon Williams, Munir McClain, and Drake London. Really need to make sure we lock down Ford and/or Puka. Can't let both go elsewhere but I am not getting my hopes up since we havent had good news since Nam.

This may be more than just a symbolic loss. As you know Bru from Mater Dei. This is our recruiting pipeline. Hoping this doesn't negatively impact that relationship. Not sticking up for Bubba Bolden can't help with Bishop Gorman recruiting and losing St. John Bosco's Chris Steele is equally problematic. Losing kids from the 3 top West Coast feeder schools is more than a symbolic problem. It is becoming systemic. The reality is that these Kids do not want to play for Helton and our recruiting is being impacted.

This is what's scary. We could lose our pipeline to the likes of UO, UW, and god forbid UT. We do not have a single MD kid in this class and I am beginning to get nervous about Bryce since he grew up a UCLA fan. Players are starting to see through Clay's BS everything is going to be ok mentality.

We already know this season is going to be a complete mess and as others have said this will put us back two-three years in recruiting. Unless we somehow bring in Urban idk how or when this ship will ever get turn around.

He's trying to get out of sitting out, which IMHO is fair bc he never suited up for us. BUT if he does have to sit out a year it kind of looks dumb on his part to rush out bc we could get a new coaching staff that he may have liked

    Untrue.

The word is the NCAA will approve the waiver.
The waiver based on the precedent of the Washington commit who went to Alabama after signing his LOI.
What is different is the Enrollment.
But McCoy was never a student athlete at SC if you read the law.
    He was only a student.
