    Oh gee, I'm crestfallen.

On the other hand, it would be a step up.

I'm sure Les would have liked to coach at a university where he could be in contention much easier than Kansas. KU isn't a football power so it'll he harder for him to be consistant. But, KU knew who they wanted and went after him.

SC on the other hand, I dont know. If Les is hired this easily by a middle of the pack basketball school, it would seem SC isn't trying or didn't want him. If that's the case then I know they are not capable of making an informed decisions. All these assistants who some are high on...isn't Les Miles.

I don't want a coach that dyes his hair that badly. I mean, you got money, what's with the Rite-Aid ruka dye job Les?

Les is a retread coach at this point in his career.

    No thanks, next!

Les has had two head coaching jobs. Oklahoma State 2001-2004 and LSU 2005-2016. No retread there.

Kansas has him signed for 5 years at 2.775 million a year. That's your budget coaching salary that people say SC is only willing to shell out. He took a 5 million pay cut from his buyout with LSU, taking a lump sum of 1.5 mil of the 6.5 mil he was owed. This was a desperate proven coach who yearned to coach again, and USC would have been the place he preferred, I'm sure.

For me, this is not so much about SC not hiring Les, but about the aptitude of the ones who are making the hires. It's about the possibility of Clay getting another year. It's about hiring a Lynn Swann, who had no business being considered for the position. Include Haden in that if you will. It's about knowing when to know it's time to move.

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors so we don't know if something has been in the works, but for sure, I would have been in contact with Les weeks ago knowing the possibilities. I can only assume Jack Del Rio has been spoken of because he's USC. They should have had a list of candidates going back weeks and made contact already.

So was Pete Carroll. I'm not ruling anyone out. Some coaches will turn out to be a very pleasant surprise.

Exactly. And the opposite is also true. Hiring a "hot" coach guarantees nothing. What about Bob Stoops or Jack Del Rio or Brent Venebles etc., etc. No one knows, especially posters on the Board. I will say SC will only hire coaches without blemishes -- i.e. no Urban Meyers or Art Briles or others of their ilk.

I would've liked to hear USC at least brought him in for an interview. It wouldn't hurt to pick his brain and see what he thought about the program and how he could improve it?
Les Miles is a master recruiter and knows the south. I guarantee he would have landed some of those massive linemen this program has had trouble getting.

Oh well another candidate off the board. When they finally do get around to making a move they will miss the boat again and shop for a coach in the bargain bin.

Leach never would have been considered. His personality clashes with the people we talk about. They want "yes sir, no sir" and maybe tolerate "I'll think about it". Not "fuk you". Leach is a fuk you kinda guy.

Guys and gals, I’m pretty sure there’s a 72 hour back out clause in this contract. If Swannie jumps, maybe we can nab the Lester!!?!?? Bwahahaha

Damn straight. Les Miles was a bit of a turd of a coach at LSU, and there are reasons LSU fans were glad to get rid of him. Great recruiter? Maybe. But he sure couldn't find a decent quarterback.

Miles belongs in the Jack Del Rio category of, "wtf is wrong with you people?"

Les Miles is off the board. Sucks for Kansas. Did you see the dudes press conference. Appears he has Parkinson.
