    1. Florida - 37
    2. Texas - 33
    3. Georgia - 21
    4. California - 19
    5. Louisiana - 13

123 of the 259 came from these 5 states.

California has fallen from the top tier that they used to share with Florida and Texas.

Any opinions why California has fell to the point that Georgia has overtaken it in NFL talent?

Look no further then USC to find out why. Most 4-5 stars that are coached up by Helton turns out to be disappointments.

It can't just be USC's fault.
There's Californians on teams throughout the west and nationally.

I can see this point of view.
    Care to elaborate?

Well, theres been a net outflow of whites to other states like Or, Az, Tx, etc...likewise, blacks have moved as well, to places like Nevada, and afore mentioned states...just look at the increased talent in Vegas, etc..

Meanwhile, Latinos have become the largest percentage in Cali, then add in all the Asians that have decided to call Cali home...a lot of the Asians, dont really play sports in numbers, let alone football...while football is huge in Latin American communities, there just isnt the size, etc to move on to big time college football..

Just lookk at the some of the traditional HS football powerhouses affected by the various demographic shifts...Bishop Amat in the SGV for one....the various cities around La Puente used to supply kids, but not anymore, at least in numbers...

And a large chunk of todays parents wont even let their kids play youth and HS football...

    Just some of the factors....

I can attest to some of your post.
I currently reside in Las Vegas. I moved from the Inland Empire in 2005.
The talent in the Vegas area has exploded.
Lots of talent at schools like Bishop Gorman, Desert Pines and Liberty.
Quite a few of those kids or their parents have a California background.

As far as Amat, Pomona was huge for that program. During the 80's Garey, Ganesha and even Diamond Bar won CIF titles with kids from Pomona. The demographics have impacted the Lancers for sure.
As a former CBL kid who played at Fontana High School during the school's heyday, not only Fohi but all of the other strong schools of that era weren't the same because of demographics.

It's not just this year. It's been a trend for a while. I have posted analysis of NFL drafts, recruiting, demographics for a while now.
