USC weekend recruiting wrap

It’s an interesting time in regard to recruiting at USC right now, as the Trojans will go more than a month without a real opportunity to host recruits at a home game. USC was away this past weekend, then hosts Utah on a Friday night – when a huge majority of recruits will be playing in their own games – then has two away games and a bye over the following three weeks. USC is also embarking on a run of games that could have a huge say in how much attention recruits give to the Trojans, as games against Utah, Washington, and Notre Dame could go a long way toward generating momentum or stalling it completely.

The Trojans did have a few prospects on campus this past Sunday. The most notable was 2021 linebacker Raesjon Davis (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei), a top-30 prospect in his class and a top target for the Trojans, and national programs.

USC also a numbers of players from Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona, including four-star cornerback Steven Ortiz, in the 2021 class.

WR Velltray Jefferson and the Edison Tigers were defeated by Clovis North by a down-to-the-wire score of 41-40. Recruiting Notes

Plenty of talk picking up about USC commit Bryce Young and a possible flip to Alabama, as several Alabama-based reporters have flipped their 247 crystal ball picks to the Crimson Tide. This is going to be something to monitor and something where a potential coaching change, or not, could play a role.

2020 3 star WR Loic Fouonji (Midland, Texas/Lee) received an offer from the USC Trojans. Fouonji, 6-foot-4, 194-pounds, is a multi-sport athlete, playing football, soccer, track, and basketball. He has notable offers from Oklahoma State and Texas.

Another running back target committed elsewhere, as three-star back Ty Jordan (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) announced his commitment to Texas. Jordan was one of several Texas-based recruits that USC hosted over the summer, and so far the Trojans haven’t had any luck in getting commitments from any of them. Jordan joins fellow running back and USC target Bijan Robinson (Tucson, Ariz./Salpointe Catholic) in the Longhorns’ 2020 class.
