SCOUTING TEXAS
*Texas, under second-year head coach Tom Herman, bounced back from its season-opening loss to Maryland by getting by Tulsa, 28-21, last Saturday at home.

*The Longhorns’ offense is led by sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger (42-of-66, 63.6%, 500 yds, 4 TD, 2 int in 2018, plus 19 tcb, 81 yds, 4.3 avg, 1 TD), who throws to receivers such as junior WRs Lil’Jordan Humphrey (13 rec, 191 yds, 14.7 avg, 1 TD in 2018, plus 2 tcb, 19 yds, 9.5 avg and 2 KOR, 51 yds, 25.5 avg), Collin Johnson (7 rec, 96 yds, 13.7 avg, 1 TD in 2018) and Devin Duvernay (5 rec, 64 yds, 12.8 avg, 1 TD in 2018). Texas calls on a trio of runners: TBs Tre Watson (30 tcb, 126 yds, 4.2 avg in 2018, plus 2 rec, 17 yds, 8.5 avg, 1 TD), a graduate transfer from California who played against USC in 2014 and 2016, true freshman Keaontay Ingram (16 tcb, 101 yds, 6.3 avg, 2 TD in 2018, plus 4 rec, 17 yds, 4.2 avg) and soph Daniel Young (11 tcb, 68 yds, 6.2 avg in 2018)

*UT’s defensive standouts include senior NB P.J. Locke III (14 tac, 1 for loss, 1 FF in 2018), senior LB Anthony Wheeler (13 tac, 1.5 for loss in 2018), senior CB Kris Boyd (11 tac, 1 for loss, 1 sack, 3 dfl in 2018) and junior S Brandon Jones (10 tac, 1 for loss in 2018).
