Seal Beach closed. Before lockdown it usually didn’t attract a lot of outsiders.

I miss Beechwood BBQ. Twelve years on East Coast and I still prefer that place. I also miss March Madness at Coaches, that was always a great place to be for that.

No, but my hiking trails were closed the other day. I read that they were supposed to re-open today.

Nope, both Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach are closed, including the Strand. So now everybody is going to catch the coronavirus walking in the crowd 50 feet over on Ocean Drive. So thankful our local governments are helping protect us.

Newport and Huntington got the brunt of that traffic, as well as peeps from San Diego because their beaches are closed too. People are tweeting Newsom to step in and shut down both OC county beaches. This is why we can't have nice things.

I guess you haven't heard that sand fleas are major carriers of the virus?

I would miss Walt's Warf the Most. Patties Place next-most. Sand not at all.
It is kind of a neighborhood town.

We are stuck between the rational crowd that knows the shut down is becoming total bullshit and the lemming crowd that toes the politician line. I was talking to friend on mine who was saying he was so thankful that we have a great state that looks after our safety...

...I wasn't mad, just a bit dejected that some people still think politicians are there to protect their interests.

Laguna Beach is open at the County Beaches, which is Aliso Beach and any beaches south.

Good taste. Beechwood is the bomb and Coaches is my go to sports bar/restaurant. Unfortunately, Walt's Wharf tanked it.

Opening things in an orderly step wise process based medical information is how it will happen

Give me a break KeenObserver (and anyone who agrees with him). How is the lockdown total bullshit?

Also note that keeping the lockdown in place likely works AGAINST the politicians' interests, as the resulting economic losses are likely to upset voters and get the politicians voted out.

No, in fact, it's quite the opposite. The politicians who have been most aggressively pro-active have the highest voter approval ratings. So there's no consequence for enacting unreasonable restrictions--they look merely protective by a fearful populace.

The question was: how many countries are reopening? You do know that several are, right?

He said it is becoming total bullshit and it is. The original call for our current lockdown conditions was based on predictions that have not come anywhere close to reality. Half of all US fatalities are from ONE metropolitan area on the EAST coast. Politicians continue to extend lockdown dates and encourage more strict adherence despite the fact that hospitals in CA are not only NOT at capacity, but many are struggling to stay afloat. Over 50% of the LA population is unemployed. Domestic violence is up significantly. Calls to mental health facilities are up. People are avoiding hospitals due to the virus and their medical conditions are going from mild to potentially fatal as a result.

The entire country is on lockdown and yet the entire country is not the same. New York should do what makes sense for them in their overcrowded, live-on-top-of-each other, massive high-rise apartment-dwelling, subway riding lifestyles. Meanwhile, CA with it's over 3 million small businesses and nowhere near the mortality rate of NY, is being forced to live under extreme and unwarranted conditions.

LA Police Chief Moore praised the residents for not going to the beach this weekend....but they did! They came to Orange County, just like San Diegans did. And even then, the crowds weren't so much that people didn't have plenty of room to keep their distance. And I know that because I was at the beach on Friday with my daughter and she went again yesterday. PLENTY of room to social distance. The viral load in that type of setting is minimal at worst. People need to get out. These are public areas and we pay taxes. It absolutely is bullshit.

You couldn't be more wrong. The bailout for many, particularly in the lower income bracket, has them earning more by staying at home than if they went to work. You don't think Congress knew that? So fear has resulted in $$$ and a false sense that government really cares about them. Lol.
I'm still waiting for your proof to indicate that hospitals outside of metro NY are overwhelmed with virus victims.
