Take it for what it's worth.

"Offensive tackle E.J. Price, who is currently not a member of the football program, is enrolled in summer school. USC is currently between summer sessions. Kicker Matt Boermeester is not enrolled in summer school. That makes it increasingly unlikely Boermeester returns to USC."

Wolf states the obvious and makes it sound like he's reporting something. If EJ is in summer school, he's going to play in the Fall and Helton announcing it is just a formality. Conversely, Boermeester has been long gone from the program and Helton announcing his ultimate demise is just a formality. Why anyone reads or quotes Wolf I'll never know.

Even if Price came back (which i do not know if he will or not), i don't think he'd be much of a contributor this year because of how long he has been away from the team. I seriously doubt he is close to being in football shape.

I understand the thought, but I would disagree here.

IF Price came back, it would essentially be the same as a player returning from injury in terms of getting back into football shape - except Price would have the advantage of not having to ease back into contact, nor get over the mental hurdle of using an injured body part to the max.

So a full Fall camp of practice and scrimmages would get him back up to speed, just as it has for injured players in the past.

The other factor is that IF Price has been working hard to fulfill off field requirements to be reinstated to the team ....that means he has the expectation of getting back on the field, and presumably has not been sitting on the couch eating Doritos for 9 months.

It would stand to reason that he has been doing something physically to show Helton, the staff, and teammates he wants to play again.

As we all know, it's all conjecture until Helton makes a statement later this summer ... or does not.

Does this mean he is still under scholarship then? If not who is paying his tuition? If so then would he have weight room and conditioning privileges over the last year? He could be out of shape otherwise.

Spend a day on a sportswriter's beat with your host, Scott Wolfe. Any takers? Are you tempted to delve into his mind? Too scary?

Wolf's "reporting" got so bad a one point back in the PC heyday, that Pete basically cut him off and wouldn't talk to him. His only great talent I'm told, has something to do with goats.

I remember seeing one clip where Pete was talking to someone about some obscure cable show that they both liked. Wolf was standing to the side, and said, ''I don't get that show...'' Carroll stopped, looked at him, and said, ''you wouldn't.'' He couldn't have communicated any more clearly that he thought Wolf was a boob.

Does anyone want to take the Wolfe with goats assignment?

How about sitting in on his TV viewing habits?

Are there any brave souls willing to take the Wolfe challenge?

Maybe we should throw this over to Petros?

If something doesn't come of this football wise, Price wins in fhe taking personal responsibility prize. He is 2500 miles from home getting an education and has kept his head down. This will pay off huge in the longer game of life.

"Wolf" and "reporting" is a contradiction in terms. : )

If all the speculation is true, I am glad for the young man. In fact, there is going to be at least three starting positions that may be up for grabs next year. Before he left he was primed and ready to take a starting spot; so much so that he leaped-frog Chuma Edoga.

My gut tells me he will be reinstated in fall, go through the season, get his head and body football ready and will compete for a position in 2018.

Just my two cents, no inside information.

I was up in the football offices around 2007, talking football with a staff member when another staff member stuck his head in the door and said Wolfie is on his way up. The guy's response was classic.

Fvck, now I'm going to have to take another shower.

I guess the question is in an age where writers are being laid off left and right, why does Wolfe still have a job. Does he work for free?

    Here's the saddest part.

Would this thread have 44+ responses and over 4,000+ views if it the thread title read:

    Katz reporting....

    Save that thought.

That's Jonathon Tu's blog,, who used to be a regular poster here. He's my friend and I miss him. He's not dead, just MIA.
If you go to his September 2007 archive, there is a photo of him and I in the stands at Nebraska
