Coming into the season, I had high hopes that Hawkins was going to be a starter and make serious contributions in the secondary based on reports of his performances in the spring and summer. I honestly cannot think of another Trojan defender who racked up as many defensive holding and/or pass interference penalties.
I hope the coaching staff can correct those tendencies soon, very soon....

The last PI call on Hawkins in the end zone on the 2pt. conversion was completely bogus . . . a PAC 12 referee "special".

The ineptitude of the #4 compelled him!

I will still take aggressive play with penalties over the typical lay back and let them catch everything style of the Monte days. PI or defensive holding in college is not a big penalty.

He doesn't back down. He'll get better.

Hawkins is being mentored by Torin Harris. Hence the ode to #4

I know this is an exaggeration, but it sure seems like any ball thrown to #4 will automatically get a flag

Well, we've crossed the 1/2 way point in the season and he's still making the same mistakes...either no one is spending time with him (which I doubt) or he's simply not listening.

PI at the point of ball arrival is one thing, but blatantly holding the receiver's jersey as he runs his route is asinine. He's killing the D with his constant penalties. The problem is a BIG one...the answer is BIGGER...we need BIGGIE! Adoree and Biggie at the corners would be very comforting. Hawkins and Seymour are not.

Hawkins and Seymour are just outmatched most nights. With ASU and UA throwing the ball nearly every play, it will expose the corners if they're not great.

He should learn some technique from Jonathan Lockett.
