who claimed that USC was fielding a different, vastly improved team in 2019 with a new philosophy since Swann had supposedly forced Clay Dough to fire coaches and to let new assistant coaches run their own system/philosophy unperturbed by CCH?
along with a few others, I continually posted that, as long as Helton was HC, this stupid idea would NEVER WORK and the team would underperform. Yet, lots of fans shouted down those of us who knew better and who dared state the truth.
more than a few people still posting now thought that bringing in GH, Chad, Sir Jinx, and meathead Aaron “The latest hype video proves how yoked and conditioned we now are” Ausmus would somehow make this into a winning team (“we’re gonna get at least 10 wins!! ...CFP playoff, here we come!!!) without operating on and disposing of the obvious cancerous tumor.
    SMDH.
I bet most or all of those fanboys won’t admit that they were wrong now that everything is crystal clear.

The team is guaranteed at least one more win from last season.

    HTH. HAND.

Not sure what you mean, Lizard King, but if some fans think that one more win compared to last season is “progress,” I feel sorry for them.

Hell, I’m pissed. This is unacceptable.

The team is better...or at least has spurts of what it should or could be. That first quarter was what we all were expecting...offense and defensively...minus the Special teams play. While USC might be the same or even a little better...the pac 12 refs has gotten worse. They have made calls that have cost the team 2 games...and almost this game. That roughing the passer call was bogus and extended that drive. The qbs feet hadn't even touched the ground from his throw when he got hit.

Had you posted this thread a year ago, you'd have something to bitch about as you seem to think you are deserving of board admiration. But another day, another thread posting the obvious . . . makes me wonder where you been, dude. 99% of this board has been calling for Helton's firing for 15 months now. And the only people who are asking for Helton to be kept are the UCLA trolls that have been hanging around the board the past month.

The point is that the team is demonstrably better than last year -- a 2018 team that failed to win at least six games.

    HTH.

Demonstrably better. We should have lost to Colorado and ASU. We should be 4-6 we will likely finish 7-5. Not demonstrably better in my opinion. LK we really are bad this year. Don’t let Helton read your post he will offer it up to our AD as proof the fans think he is improving.

I am always bothered by posters who thump their chests telling us how right they were at the beginning of the season that the team will suck again. Congratulations on being right.

I'm done with Helton also and I thought the going to the air raid was an act of desperation, but I am usually optimistic at the beginning of every season. I confess I'm tired of being disappointed again.

Where has this poster been? Probably posting on BRO.....it's a ruin troll. If it posts long enough, everyone forgets.

I think Helton is a bad HC. I stated this plenty of times last season. Yes, USC is bad this year too.

I believe you're only as good as your record says you are. USC, with at least one more win this year as opposed to last, is demonstrably better than last year. That's all I'm trying to say.

I’ve been calling out Helton’s BS for well over a year...even when he was an asst, I said he was subpar. I was one of the first to post that we needed to move in a different direction on several blogs BEFORE and right after he was hired as head coach and after his 1st season. the Cotton Bowl curb stomping and the excuses that ensued were cause for me to continue calling for him to be gone.
It seems like you are the one seeking board love.

I have to agree with Pick on this one. Very, very few people predicted at least 10 wins from this team. Almost half of the folks here predicted 6-6 or worse. Another almost half predicted between 7-5 and 9-3. Personally I predicted 8-4. And that was very simply based on last year's scores and adding 7 points per game of offense--which I assumed we would achieve with Harrell. In fact we are averaging about 6 points more per game so far than we did last season. Unfortunately we are giving up about 2 points more per game this season (maybe that is special teams?).

The BYU game was the only truly unexpected outcome to me. But we could still make 8-4. Not a lot of surprises this year as far as I'm concerned.

I can get behind this. Last year we were really bad this year just bad. End result no more clay.

Right. 11-11 over the past two seasons. The very definition of mediocre, which for USC is "bad."

I was a fan that thought this new “change” was going to benefit us.
The fact we struggle to make counter-adjustments after the opposition makes their initial adjustments is frustrated.

mvpreed, I respect that you can admit it and that you were honest enough with yourself to see that it wasn’t working.

To be fair, Helton did say he wanted to be like Stanford. And as much as I hate to admit it, the son of a bitch really pulled through.
Stanford Rushing yards per game: 120.1 yards
USC Rushing yards per game: 134.9 yards
Gotta hand it to him, we really are the new Stanford. Now whether that's a good thing is a different question
