We'll see who emerges once they get in pads. Really interested in seeing Marlon, Jay, Greg, IPM, and some others that were RS or limited last year.

    Have to agree with you.
People don’t realize that DC Pendergast is one of the best in college
football. Even in the pros. The defensive staff and players are there
But on the offensive side it is a different story
But all held back by the OL coaching
When you get the best QB in the nation and RB they need some protection
If the OL is even average it will be a very good year

Indeed.. I remember someone interviewing his sister Bonnie while he took a year off after going to the Super Bowl.
    Arizona Bachelor in Agriculture.
    never played football
But after getting fired by the Cardinals he took a year off and just watched tape... a whole year, she said.
He is to defense as Chow was to offense.

For a minute there, I thought you meant someone interviewed Bonnie for a coaching job while Clancy took time off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but JT has participated in 2 PRPs .. and didn't participate in the last 3 prior to the July 4 break .. Kid needs more hype ..

really disappointing that Velus, Ced, Carr, Dom Davis and Vai aren't taking advantage of this opportunity to improve their route running/ receiving skills. How much more potent/ unpredictable and dangerous would our O be if all of our RBs a were true triple threat options (runner, blocker, receiver) like Reggie and Marcus. 2 back sets - where the D is uncertain as to what each RB might do on a given play - should be an integral part of our O ... But CCH thinks predictability is a virtue ... SMH

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that coaches (other than S&C staff) are not allowed at PRPs or even watch from a distance. There's also no pads or contact, and these are really just throwing the ball around, conditioning, and older players teaching younger players.

Correct. No coaches present but they do set the play sheets for each session and let the players know how they want the sessions run. The day starts with warm-ups, the QB's and WR's throwing against air, the DB's doing technique drills, the linemen hitting the sled, etc. Then they go to 7-on-7 for a while, and finally the whole team comes together for 11-on-11 work.

I really hope "one of the best" actually produces results this year. We haven't even been one of the best 30.

Agree. Not sure where all the CP hype emanates from, unless it's because of some spotty excellence (e.g., vs. Washington 2016) Certainly a good coach with solid credentials but "one of the best?" Wow, that's subjective at best.

I agree with you. The OL doesn't have to be the late 70s Trojans, but they have to be better than last year.
