For me, my favorite Trojan victory was the amazing comeback against the Irish with Anthony Davis. My dad, uncle and others were watching it with me and I was the only Trojan fan in the house. That memory, from absolute despair, to joy, hasn’t been touched since.

    How about a top three?
*First Michigan Rose Bowl to win the NC in PC years. Matt Leinart catching that pass from Mike Williams for a TD in the endzone is still one of my most pure moments of joy
*Orange Bowl Victory over Oklahoma, when "everyone" thought Oklahoma was going to destroy us. I recall standing during the 3rd Qtr and saying to my wife, look around and remember this moment. It will probably never be better than this.
*50-0 over the little Bears and Neuheisel for our fifth consecutive dominating win. Remember "The Football Dynasty in Los Angeles is Over!"???

It will always be the 1974 ND game....IIRC, USC got behind 24-0....

Then Anthony Davis returned a kick off for a touchdown, and the Trojans were off to the races....55-24...something like that....

And it was the first ever College football game I remember, on a Thanksgiving weekend with my extended family....my first ever Thanksgiving.....

Agree that it has to be the 1974 Notre Dame game. It was my freshman year. I was there with my Dad. Down 24-0 then scored just before halftime to be down 24-6. AD ran the 2d half kickoff all the way back and we were off to the races. 55 points scored in 17 minutes against the top ranked defense in the country. The loudest game I remember.

I'll always have a special place in my heart for the 2017 Rose Bowl against Penn State. Incredible comeback, and it was the last game my Dad and I saw together.

After the 2nd kickoff TD by Anthony Davis, I bounded down the stairs yelling and hollering with so much excitement. I was told to watch the game quietly or else.

    2001 USC 27 UCLA 0
This game capped a mediocre, but encouraging inaugural season for rookie head coach Pete Carroll. Many fans were still reeling from this head scratching 5th choice hire (Does anyone else still feel like they need to take a hot shower at the mere thought that we wanted Mike Bellotti or Craig Erickson at the helm???). While the record was not great, there was reason for optimism as we were no longer regularly surrendering 21 point leads like we had been under the previous administration and we were in every game.
The Bruins came into this game on a losing streak after having starting the season 6-0 and ranked #4. They were, however, still favored to beat us in this game. The tone of the game was set early when on a 3rd and 13 from deep in our own territory Carson Palmer hit Kori Dickerson with a short pass turned into a 67 yard gain and eventual Trojan TD. Remember this was a Carson Palmer who was still heavily maligned with a 1-1 TD to INT ratio and viewed as a busted blue-chip recruit.
We extended the lead after Troy Polamalu narrowly missed a sack of Cory Paus who delivered a strike that was bobbled by Brian Poli-Dixon and ended up between the legs of and intercepted by Antuan Simmons who took it to house for a 14-0 lead.
Sunny Byrd was our feature back constantly pounding away at the Bruin D.
By the 4th Trojan victory was inevitable, but it took a late Kevin Arbet interception at the Trojan 5 yard line to preserve the coveted shutout and loudly proclaim that these Trojans might be a team to be reckoned with in the not so distant future.
Footnote, if memory serves this game came approximately one month after the infamous Plaschke "Bruin Town" article. Such sweet memories.

Coach Carroll formulated a plan in his mind after the game was first announced.
I watched Coach grinning on the sideline as he witnessed his team exhibit a Muhammad Ali performance.

SC shook up the football world and looked pretty while doing it.

So many great ones, name your Rose Bowl, or other Bowls, especially involving Oranges, or 31 point wins, but for me it's a toss up between that goal line stand against Cal and the 4th & 9 leading to the Bush Push. We need to make some new history soon!

PS. Honorable mention must go to Matt Barkley's come from behind at the Horseshoe on the Olentangy in Columbus - we were there in front of 110,000 screaming fans.

USC 55 ND 24. It was the 1st Trojan game I ever saw. I was 9 years old and was spending the Saturday with my grandfather. I lived in northwest Indiana and am/was surrounded by nothing but frontrunning uncles who thought the only universities in the world were ND and UCLA. I have absolutely loved the USC Trojans since that glorious 1974 November Saturday. Fight On.

    1. '74 win vs. ND - watched from my dorm room with a buddy.
    2. 2017 RB vs. PSU - watch from the stands! Amazing game. After PSU scored their last TD, an obnoxious PSU fan yells at me "lay 60 on USC!". After the winning FG I looked at him and yelled "there's your 60, a**hole!"

The 1980 Rose Bowl with Charlie White vs Ohio State. My dad and I were there and were behind the endzone where White scored the tying TD in the closing seconds of the game. The Eric Hipp PAT put the Trojans ahead for good.

My favorite UCLA game and one of the more underrated games overall, for so many of the reasons you state. Yes, what we had seen from Pete was starting to offer some optimism but nobody saw THAT coming. A shutout, over a Bruin team that indeed just a few weeks earlier was riding high, and you are correct on the timing of that Plashke article.
