Texas was a very good team and it took an all world effort by VY to beat us.

A truly inexplicable loss was the 2008 Oregon State loss. We were the best team in CFB by a mile, with a historic defense and a darn good offense and we lost. Huh.

It didn’t tear me apart, but I ate some crow cuz I was fishing in at a great lodge in Wyoming and I was pretty sure we were NC material.

For me personally I'd have to go back to 1891 and that awful 12-16 thumper against the Olive Club, our first loss which ruined the perfect 100% win percentage we had going.

Just kidding of course it's Texas. And UCLA '06, Oregon St '08 are up there.

ND 1988 was like my first heartbreak. I knew nothing about USC football until I became a freshman in 1987 and, until that game, had never attended a game that they lost. (All home games in 87 and 88 were victories.) It was crushing.
