The Iowa team is great in many ways....Stanley had the greatest 1st half of his life but what ever you want to say SC was taking the momentum back when Slovis went down....!

We kicked a field goal to end the 1st half 28-17....!

..We took the Ist drive of the 2nd half and went down the field in I think a couple plays with a great deep ball (Slovis to Brown) ane then we run it in for a score 28-24 ......!

Then a WOW call gets us an on side kick recovery inside Iowa territory....We get a first down pass to Vaughn and then our luck goes bad and Slovis goes down......!

Who doesn't think we don't score if Slovis remained in the game.....They really had not stopped him and we were riding the momentum.........We went from taking control of the game to having no chance.........I don't care what happened in Utah you are not going t beat Iowa with a third string QB..........!

Stanley came down to earth in the second half . His accuracy suffered.....Even the perception of pressure effected is passing but SC was demoralized and they could still run the ball and they could take advantage of our mistakes.

The score suggests a blow but does not tell the story of "what might have been" .....!

The game WAS a blowout. You get no special trophies for coming up short. There are no moral victories. Don't resort to Helton speak talking about what might have been. That is true in most games that are played. The stone cold reality is we NEVER came close to slowing down the Iowa offense. The 10+play drives were a result of piss poor defense, and good execution on the part of our opponent.

Losing Slovis hurt, but we were NEVER in control of that game. NEVER led, and got our lunch handed to us.

Helton needs to go, but sadly the ponzi scheme will continue into 2020.

Next blowout against Bama. We lose by 40.

If Iowa would have dropped those potential interceptions the score would have been worse. If Iowa had continued to beat the snot out of our DL by the 4th quarter they would have been running for 20 yards per play. If the on side kickoff had been taken by Iowa it would have been 60 for Iowa. etc etc. Slovis got hurt because we could not protect him not because it was a odd occurrence....that is talent and coaching at work.
We got blown out by the 5th best team from the 2nd best league in the country.......pretty much at home.

Iowa team great in many ways lol ... great enough to score 3 pts vs Michigan, get drilled at home by PennSt, finish 3rd in their division and 7th overall in their conference. Yes, 1972 Dolphin great. Jesus Christ, you Helton family members need to take your stolen money and get the F out of here !

If we score after the onside kick we would be up 31-28.....Stanley was regressing and Slovis is Slovis.....Games are decided by a few plays and momentum......I look forward to next season.......!

Yep, a play here, a play there, we lose by 24, not 25.

"What might have been"...? You want to play that game, and USC is only 7 games of "what might have been" away from a championship birth last year, and only 5 "what might have been" games away from it this year. Ah, yes, the old "what might have been"...

The game is four quarters. Something USC has not played all season.

The Ohio State game reminds me of a Helton Oregon game. Get up early, and then get trampled and lose.

Apparently the OP has no actual football experience. Teams all let up when the outcome has pretty much been decided. This game was every bit of the blowout the score indicates. At some point the scrubs get to take the field. USC couldn't even get anything done with the Iowa scrubs playing.
