These kind of performances on national TV--with weeks of lead-up hype and an entire offseason re-hashing the same things afterwards--only serve to further embed the Pac-12 in the bottom tier of every CFB fan's subconscious. And next year, or two years down the road, when we go 11-1 and are on the cusp of a playoff spot, we'll get the Ohio St treatment and be left out because everyone will remember how much we've previously embarrassed ourselves on a big stage before. That's why the "this season was a step in the right direction...don't overreact to one game...conference champs!" arguments are delusional. In a league where the playoffs are set by humans, subjectively, you don't get to erase bad performances or "outgrow" them. It takes years to repair that damage.

Hey, on the plus side, you couldn't have scripted any more convincing of an argument for Sam to come back.

    If
If that happens, the Pac12 goes 1-8 in Bowl games. Sorry.

How likely is it that Swann demands Helton make coaching changes or risk being fired? The offensive line is offensive and soft as cotton candy. Where are the Tyron Smith's or the Kahlil's?

We need an oline coach, secondary coach and a special teams coach. Did anybody see how OSU covered kickoffs and punts?

Sam was pressured all night; did we pressure their QB and backfield the same way?

That Pick 6 was not all Sam. He threw the route and Burnett didnt finish it.

However, those fumbles were all Sam.

    I'm falling down a spiral
    Destination unknown
Double crossed by Tee Martin, all alone
    Can't get no connection
Can't get through where’s the adjustments

    Well the rush weighs heavy
    On Sam’s guilty mind
This far from the touchdown line
    When the Blitz -man comes
    He knows damn well
    He has been de-cleated, sacked
    And he says

Help I'm steppin' into the red zone
The place is where we get owned
    Feels like plays are cloned
    My footballs been moved
Under a big stage with stars
    Where am I to go
Now that I can’t find an open receiver
Soon you will come to know
    Were in the red zone
A place where t martin plays don’t know

How would Leinart do against good teams with a lousy running game and no pass protection?

What I saw all game today was lack of pass protection for Sam. I believe that is what lost our game.

An upgrade in OL coaching would be of worth.

I still believe it would be better if Sam stayed, despite the game tonight we are better with him than without him. I hate the idea of having to start from scratch every 2 years. Its just, games during the season have not produced a big enough lead for backup and 3rd stringers to get any playing time/experience, like during the glory years last decade.

Nah. This scenario actually calls for Sam to leave. He won't be top 3 and will be picked up by a playoff contender. He's gone.

We need a new OC, REally, we are down by 17 and we kept trying to run up the middle. Even the announcers were commenting on the lack of creativity in the play calling. WIth the talented athletes on the field, we should have some plays that highlight this. THe predictability of the play calling makes it easy for the defenses. Let's face it--- we have not had a decent OC since Norm CHow.

I didn't want to acknowledge it and give props to our defense, but after a while I really was thinking that Ohio St's offense was horrible.

Where are the Khali's and Smith's ?Well they are the Frank Martin's, Roy Helmsley's, and Clayton Johnson's. Why are freshman starting over these guys who have been in program for a few years and should be yoked up, and coached up and ready to go ? Recruiting misses ? Bad coaching ? Weak strength coach ? Any one notice how every ohio guy was ripped. We need a coach KU type hire for oline. Callaway is a dinosaur, recruits don't connect, he doesn't even recruit. TIme to go. What ex Trojan lineman would you call ?

All the NFL scouts know this, that is why they still hold Sam in such high regard. Sam pretty much shook off all the set backs, and got back on the saddle to make some elite throws last night. The kid is just special. I am glad he is a Trojan. Fight On!
