I like reading that Carr is running with “confidence and aggression”. He hasn’t done that since his Freshman year. If there is one guy who kinda deserves to finish his career on a good note, it’s him.

Slovis didn’t look to sharp. He was way off his target on that INT.

    Thanks for the write up!

The vibe on Jason Dart is reminds me of the same for Sam Darnold when he was kicking ass on the practice squad. They seem to be similar athletes too (at least judging from what I've gathered here). Is that a fair conclusion for now?

"If you were looking for signs this spring that the USC program is looking to back up the talk about being more physical and making toughness a hallmark of the program, Saturday was another step in the right direction."

Darn it Erik...I was promising myself I would not get suckered in this year... :)

Whew...ok...I just read that there were eight combined sacks of the QBs in the Spring game so I can back down to skeptical again... sure it "could" mean our defense is amazing, but we've heard that too many times heading in to a season.

    Ever hopeful however...

I'd say there were probably 3-5 that could have been real sacks. I think one or two, the quarterback would have gotten away and another few would have resulted in throwaways if it was live contact. Tough to go with numbers as an exact representation in a spring game. But obviously the offensive line is the huge question mark still. I don't think anybody left that game thinking everything was solved up front.

Erik, did any of the OL stand out to you as playing pretty well on Saturday?

I've liked what I've seen from Jonah Monheim this spring. I thought he had some good plays. That was backed up on Tuesday when Clay McGuire praised Monheim's play this spring. I don't think any of the linemen were flawless, but Monheim is a guy I'm very interested to watch once they start moving guys around and looking at pushing potential starters.

Former USC offensive lineman Sid Smith left a comment on the WeAreSC facebook page that he thought Andrew Vorhees "played REALLY well at left tackle." I'd take that to mean quite a bit.

Took a look at the tape of the spring game. Vorhees at LT looked very good, especially when facing Drake Jackson. He does not give up much ground on bull rushes. Coach McGuire keeps our tackles in 2-point stance at the snap, and I think that helps them with pass protection. Dedich at LG also looked good, as did Courtland Ford at LT. Quinones at OG was constantly beaten.

I'm not a fan of Carr, but I have to admit he looks in shape, quicker and is running hard.

Dart could be much better than Darnold. He just looks like a natural at QB. Moss has to improve his arm strength which is understandable. For that matter, so does Slovis.

Covid rule....all seniors were granted an extra year....some came back like him, Falo, Vavae, and a few more...

Some like T Vaughns moved on to see if they can stick in the NFL...

One thing we don't have to worry about with Vorhees is anyone pushing him back. He's very strong. Whether he has good enough quickness and footwork to keep himself between the DL and QB is TBD, IMO.
