I noticed the difference in how the teams warmed up immediately. USC was spread all across the field in various areas. and guys are going through things at different speeds. There was no consistency.

Iowa, on the other hand, was incredibly structured. They came out in smaller groups and had equipment set up every 10 yards or so. They did a set of bands, a set of ladders, a set of hurdles and a set of medicine balls. Everybody going the same pace and got through multiple groups quickly.

It's one of things that doesn't matter at all if the game goes differently. But when the game plays out the way it did, it's easy to remember that and assume it played a part.

I hate to even say this, but I think we may all be wasting our time. If this sort of sloppy laziness is acceptable to the school, why would any recruit with future aspirations come? And why would anyone that cares at all about the Trojan Football tradition spend a dime on tickets or even 10 minutes at the game, endorsing by proxy this situation?

True, but when a team continues to practice hard and together those things show up over time.
We get out the gate on talent but cannot sustain it because we are soft and do not have the stamina.
Once they caught us we were through because as awesome as we are on offense we couldn’t stop an old man with a walker.

Iowa has grit as do many other teams that beat us. BYU comes to mind, they never gave up.

Reading that Twitter thread is a sad commentary on our program. I don’t know if our coaches quit on us, but this lack of discipline is unacceptable. And to think Coach O could (should) have been our coach. Fuck you very much Pat.

I listened to some of the 4th quarter on the radio and they were discussing the differences between the two teams regarding intensity, focus, discipline etc. and one of the announcers said [paraphrasing]:

Before the game they even came out onto the field differently, Iowa looked like a unit and USC looked like a field trip”.

Structure and discipline vs a total shitshow

If there is that much difference in just the WARM UPS, you can only imagine the difference in the actual practices. And this is Iowa....were not even talking Bama, Ohio St, Clemson. Clay is a fraud.

One of the things frequently commented on during Pete’s tenure at USC was the speed and structure of practices. As chaotic as they could appear to outsiders, other coaches and announcers who recognized what to look for knew how well orchestrated everything was.

It's all about the details isn't it.

Helton is oblivious to them, and the end result shows on the field. If you can't even get your team lined up straight to do warm-ups, it's telling of what to expect from there on out.

The last quarter was utterly surreal.

I'm guessing this was overseen by the same asshat who sent out two #7's on the opening kickoff, and no, I'm not referring to Baxter.

Announced attendance was 50k, 20k less than capacity. Precursor to a half empty coliseum next season. Keep the pressure on this incompetent AD by not attending home games next season. They saw a decrease of approximately $9M in ticket revenue last year.
