I can't believe some of the idiotic posts suggesting CCH engineered the decision to not go to a bowl game. All of a sudden Helton became this mighty sword of university influence? He's a coaching force on the field to be reckoned with but he does not have that type of power. Chances are he is as disappointed as his players to miss a chance to chalk up another win.

I feel bad for all the micro-penised out there. To be lumped together with Claydo. Oh the humanity. Lol

Don’t agree with them, but makes perfect sense considering those in charge. That’s how they roll.

nope. But they probably think they won the recruiting war. They want to have more Cali five star kids come in here to that they can watch Oregon celebrate on the Coli floor.

Must be a Pac12 thing as they just stated during the Furd-UCLowns game that both had opted out of any bowl game.

But he's got 5 million reasons a year not to, as completely crazy as that sounds. What a country!

I'll try not to make this political......but the old USC.....no way this would have happened and you know the highest levels approved this decision.....it is just not the same school.

Why not? In the past, Clay Helton has opted out of bowl practices and, I believe, bowl game planning. Might as well opt out of the bowl itself.

But it is a bummer for all of those fans eager to see a rematch of last year's classic Holiday Bowl.

You're stating the obvious. I came from the old USC and whenever my classmates and fraternity brothers who have moved away try to make sense out of what is going on, I simply tell them this is not where we went to school and to find another T shirt to wear.

Lots of teams are opting out. Why risk injury, go through covid testing, maybe miss the game anyways due to infections, all for a meaningless bowl game your family can't even attend and which the school will lose even more money than usual because they can't sell tickets. What exactly is the point?

And their heart's not in it which means they will embarrass themselves yet again. Finally someone made an adult decision.

I think you are right on point. The problem is that most of us think they would have lost, and Clay would be closer to retirement. People are just frustrated at the program not being relevant.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we would have lost too. I don't think it would have any impact on Heltons tenure though.

Conquest...are you a man of honor? If you are in fact a man of honor, then make me a wager that you're willing to pay up that this team doesn't go over 7 wins in 2021. That's only 2 more wins than we had this year and you'll have an additional 6 games to try and get them. How about a nice round number like $1,000? You in?

Where are all the AD's, University Presidents, Chancellors, etc. who are always crying about the sanctity of the Bowl Games as the reason why we can't expand the College Playoffs from 4 teams to 8 teams? Those Bowl Games are so meaningless, half of them have been canceled while the other half can't find participants who are interested in playing in them. What a bunch of hypocrites.
