Caleb Wilson leaving school a year early and still getting drafted is a big "screw u" to Clay Helton. Clueless Clay wouldn't even offer him a Scholorship even when he showed good faith by taking a walk-on position. It's not like he didn't show out. He was catching the ball lights out during the player run practices. In my opinion he was one of their top performers. Talent right in front of your face and you still can't see it. Talk about blind. Wilson couldn't have gone to a better team but this also exposes Helton in another area. A Talent evaluation flaw. I'm not talking about the no brainers like Carr, ASB, Vaunghs and Pittman. More like the second and third tier guys. In addition to all the misses in recruiting (see 2016 class) He signed guys like Nunnery and Godfrey who had almost zero chance of playing. That's 2 more lost rides. The last few seasons Clay has hitched his cart to players like Harris, Lockett, Langley, and Lobendahn all Sr's who had only a slim to no chance of being drafted within 7 rounds. All the while watching players who were frustrated with their opportunities with higher upsides transfer out. It's no wonder Clay Helton is 12-13 without Sam Darnold. (Look it up)

**The NFL UFA is nothing more than a free plane ticket a short term salary and agreement to let you tryout. Teams can sign as many as they want hoping to find 1 or 2 that can make their 53 man roster. Very few of these make it because they have to survive 2 cuts. 4 and 5 star players deserve better than that. I think about Damien Mama, Toa Lobendahn, Viane Talamaivo, Chris Brown who all came in as 4 stars and what Wisconsin would have done with this same group. They deserved to be coached up and givin a better opportunity to improve their draft stock and not have guys like Neil Callway, Bob Conley and Ronnie Bradford stunt their growth. He won't take responsibility for it but Clay Helton did that to you when he hired them. I guess he can't evaluate coaches either.

The good thing is it appears Helton has been reeled in a bit and someone has put a thumb on his scale for that I am optimistic. For now just let Helton lick the stamps don't let him write the letters.
