Trojan NFL Draft Prospects

Here are Mel Kiper's opinions on the upcoming draft by position group:

According to Mel, Lee, Martin, & Bailey made the right decision. But he doesn't think much of Grimble & Uko apparently... I think only Lee & Bailey should have gone. The other three had much to gain by coming back. Time will tell.

 

That's exactly what I thought from the beginning.

 

Yep. Hope it works out for them all but I think some could have short careers.

 

I think Xavier will catch on somewhere because once he plays with someone they're going to realize wow this guy just never got an opportunity. Uko on the other hand… I wish him luck but he is way too small right now to contribute big time and I don't think his prospects look great.

 

I lot of these "mock" drafts don't actually review tape. They just glance at the stats and the accolades and then throw some darts at a board. Martin was First Team All Pac-12 in a year with no clear #2 center prospect. But what will GMs think when they actually review the tape?

 

If Uko would've stayed, i think he and Williams would've been first-rounders next year.

 

I think Grimble could actually impress at the combines.

Uko? not so much. And NO WAY he would've been a 1st rounder next year. Uko lacks power/explosion, he's actually lucky at all the nickel packages being run in the NFL, that gives him hope to catch on somewhere and hang on as a nickel DT.

 

Any other year we probably wouldn't care about a few guys leaving early. Sure it doesn't help depth but I think our incoming freshmen will help a lot.
