In yet another defection from the University of Oregon track and field program, world-class sprinter Lauren Rain Williams has left the team.

Last month she was silver medalist in the 200 meters at the World Junior championships in Tampere, Finland,

Williams' departure was confirmed by UO athletic department spokesman Nate Krueger.

Williams has USC T&F on the home page of her Twitter account.

    In addition................

Lilli Burdon, Katie Rainsberger, Tanner Anderson and Mick Stanovsek have been granted their release and will transfer. The news first was reported by the Register-Guard.

Rainsberger's fourth-place finish in the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships led the Ducks to the national title. She scored in the 2017 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships before being hurt for much of the 2018 track seasons. She is a junior.

Burdon was third in the 5,000 meters at last spring's NCAA Outdoor Championships. She will be a junior in the upcoming cross country season and a senior in track.

Yeah, kinda crazy. I haven't heard the full story on Lauren, but it seems like she always wanted to be at SC. Well, she's here.

Burdon, Rainsberger, Stanovsek, and Anderson all ended up at UDub. Of course, this was following the departure of Andy and Maurica Powell, husband and wife, and longtime assistant coaches at Oregon.....who went to UDub.

And then this week, Shae Anderson announced that she would be leaving Oregon for ucla.

Not having a home track this upcoming season must have something to do with it but that is quite an exodus. And as a side note, the Ducks have had 6 departures from their softball team. At the moment they have just 14 players (only 2 pitchers) rostered.

Wow, we went a year without a track and didn't see a mass exodus like that.
