TOS Is reporting that Porter will have to have surgery to repair a torn meniscus suffered yesterday at practice. Expected to be out 2-4 weeks. I guess that's some pretty good news all things considered. Fight On Porter! Here's to a smooth operation and quick recovery.

Hopefully the healing process will only take the 2 to 4 weeks they talked about.

Hope he can get back that quickly. He's put in so much work to be ready for a breakout season.

Porter will have a breakout season, if healthy...

My thoughts exactly. Might be one of those guys who is always injured. Hopefully this is just a blip on the radar.

There is mention of a redshirt year.
This might not be a bad idea for he can still
Play 4 games. Depends how fast he comes back
    He is definitely NFL material
But better to go in first or second round and injury history
    Might hurt his status

Earliest he is back is the Stanford Game. Porter doesn’t need seasoning, no one will be in game shape week 2 anyway.

Nice thing is SC played basically all last season without him and the D didn’t fall off. This year SC is more talented and deeper at LB. if there was a position for this to happen at its LB.

We tell our patients min 4 wks before returning to full contact/activity following this type of arthroscopic procedure.

Have to presume mid September at the earliest.

Given his edge rush position, I would anticipate closer to 6 wks, if being honest.

He should hit the ground running as he is in perfect shape, out 4-6 wks, will start pool conditioning & other forms of PT within a week post op.

I would suspect Texas game is the goal, yet WSU game more realistic.

Unfortunately Vargas, this looks like a case of Porter's obsession with the weight room and adding bulk putting too much stress on his body. He was injured in a non-contact drill. What do you think ? Betiku looks like another case. Super yoked and always breaking down

    Thank you, twincity.

The internet doctors on this Board have been killing me the last 24 hours.

    No.

A broken toe, torn meniscus, and torn biceps.

All disparate injuries that can happen to anyone.

Porter played 24 games his first two years . . . last year was the first that he missed the majority of games.

This is football folks . . . guys get hurt.

He may be the best player on the team. He's also a true leader. I had a torn meniscus my freshman year of college wrestling and was back on the mat in less than a month w/o surgery. I finally had the surgery about 15 years later after thousands of rec league softball & basketball games. He'll be back better than ever in a month.

Ironic it happened one day before full pads.It could have been worse and confident he`ll get good care in his rehab and be back on the field soon.

Thanks for the info. I would prefer to err on the longer side, 6 weeks.

George Farmer was seemingly always hurt and I don't think it was because of his weightlifting and bulk.

Based on the the recovery time we could have him back just in time for the Stanford game.
