Minnesota, Texas and West Virginia are the top three for Arizona grad transfer linebacker Tony Fields. Obviously not looking to stay close to home or within the Pac-12 at his next stop.

Yea, I was wondering why we even offered the guy. It’s not like we’re hurting for ILBs. I don’t see how this guy could be better than our top 3-4 at the position.

Hurting for inside linebackers, no. Hurting for inside linebackers who know what they're doing, yes. At least that's my perception based on last year.

It is clear that staying in the PAC-12 and/or close to home was not in his plans.
I am all for loading up on quality talent and trying to be the best USC team we can assemble.

No we did not stay in the running for Fields, but I do not believe that this is a big issue for us going forward.
Let the young guns get in there, gain experience, and earn their stripes.

Minnesota would be a good fit for him. They've got immediate playing time after most of their (Top 10) defense left, they're probably going to be very good, and they're starting to get players drafted. 4 from last year's defense.
