"For me and especially my parents we felt forced to make a major decision signing with USC based on limited information based on COVD-19 restrictions," he wrote. "We were not able to to take any official visits to any of the other schools on our short list such as Michigan, Utah, UCLA and Miami among others." 4E1B3FDD-A66E-4EFB-AD39-772D471F397E.jpeg

Forced? He wasn't forced to do anything! Somebody made him or (more likely) his parents a better offer. I hope the fNCAA takes a closer look at this one.

Rushed to make a decision??? I didn't realize he was dropped into HS as a Senior and was forced to make a decision on the fly. Too bad he didn't have a few years prior to kind of look around and see what his options were.

I agree, I don't like the use of the word "force" in this situation. Not sure why covid would have kept him from unofficial or even officials to ucla at least. Other players took visits.

Maybe there was tampering. If not, sometimes it's just not a good fit, even for students who aren't athletes. If he didn't take any other visits, you don't know what you don't know. In that sense, he might have gotten a call from his high school coach to check on his level of happiness. Maybe there was some friction with the coaching staff. It is rather random to have made the choice, do well in the classroom, respect the school, have successful practices....but then want to leave because you didn't visit elsewhere.

Maybe it just one of those authentic classy posts like Carr's. If we had a semi-competent coaching staff, these types of things would rarely happen. Wait until fall practice. The exodus could be huge

The really troubling thing is that he never played a down at SC. Never even gave SC a chance really. Why did he sign here in the first place? This is a big downer, and obviously he will need to be replaced by another stout, strong player in the middle of the DL.

Why are you thinking of this now? Very odd IMO.

I say it’s all BS. Look at J.T. Tuimoloau, he will start making his official visits this month. He could of done the same thing

Yeah very strange situation and decision by Toia. No sense beating this thing to death. Damage control: the coaching staff had better find and get 2 good DL in the transfer portal fast and maybe switch one of the OL to DL.

Too much attention is being paid to this dude. Whatever. As long as we have Helton...it's whatever. One big dude who has yet to play a down of college ball is not going to change this tailspin of a program.

Oh wait, I know the 'real' problem...he was not the love of Helton's life. Ah, that explains everything.

Don't you just love these generic taking my talents too letters? Why bother. Wouldn't you like to read someone say I hate it there so I'm going somewhere else my position coach is a [email protected] People don't leave places they like.

Ooops. Maybe he reads my posts and I scared him off with all my Anti-Helton rhetoric.

Or maybe he has a Jeff Spicoli surfer buddy who looked at him and said Dude you play for Gomer!!

Clearly he wasn’t forced into anything. And if SC really was his dream school then there was no need to visit the other schools. And he is mentioning grades to shut down the rumors of grade issues that have already started.

Obviously he is not going to mention the real reason for this transfer (a good offer from another school, conflict with a coach, etc) but it would be interesting to find out what that is.

I am always surprised by the “me and my family.” My parents would have never have considered guiding me to a school, although you do somewhat by schools you visit. I accept others are different, but the choice should be the students.
