President Carol Folt and BOT chairman Rick Caruso were in attendance today.

Talanoa Hufanga and Drake Jackson returned to practice. Hufanga wore a yellow non-contact jersey.

Stephen Carr did some rehab work but Clay Helton said he still isn’t back yet. It sounds like he anticipates Carr and Malepeai possibly back for Cal. He said Kenan Christon will hit the four-game mark this weekend and then they’ll make a decision about him taking part in games beyond that depending on if the injured backs are able to return.

Velus Jones was not at practice, as he was back home due to a death in his family.

    Juliano Falaniko practiced today.

Special teams coach John Baxter defended the decision to kick the ball deep on Oregon’s 100-yard kickoff return. Baxter said they don’t squib the ball well and that is actually a difficult kick if you don’t do it a lot. He called the return a perfect storm, as player a player got bumped off his mark and into two other players, then another got caught up with a blocker and the coverage over the top wasn’t there, which creates a touchdown return.

He also defended the number of kickoffs the Trojans have returned this season. He was clear in his preference to take a chance at a big return. He said he likes to see his players running with the ball and he feels players like to be coached that way.

That is just plain stupidity by Baxter. Ok no squib kick, what about a hard line drive that will hit the ground and bounce around. These guys kick all practice I am sure they can improvise. His defense of his action just makes it much worse. Baxter for sure needs to go!
    Fight On!

Let's see if Herm Edwards schools Helton on how to be a head coach. Jayden Daniels is much better than Tate. Of course Baxter is going to defend his decisions on special teams. The game has passed him by.

So if they don't do it alot, why not? How else do kickers amuse themselves at practice? And why doesn't he plan for situations like this? Sounds like Baxter is intent on earning a PhD from the Clay Helton School of Excuse Making.

It appears by the product on the field that these lazy ass coaches don’t do a lot of things.
“You practice like you play” how the hell do these knuckleheads not know this by now?

Kick it out of bounds then. Can they aim for the sidelines? This is the most ridiculous excuse I've ever heard. Practices for all occasions. No excuses.

One thing you can count on the majority of this coaching staff, they don't make mistakes. The players just screw up. It is the old "boy, I coached great, but my players played bad".

Baxter should have been relieved of his duties after that ball game.

This is my take too. It’s a classy way of showing Clay; we know who you are, we are watching you closely and if you lose this week you might want to stay on the tarmac.
    It’s the kiss of death.

"I've arranged for a plane; we're going to Tempe in an hour. Try not to make a big thing of it. Meet me on the tarmac."

"I know it was you, Claydo. You've broken my heart."

If you don't do it in practice, of course, you won't be good at it!!!!

    WTF
