I dont think he is being shown the door. Just helping one of his coaches progress in his career. I am sure Helton knows Tee wants to be a HC,

Tennessee will want nothing to do with anybody who's not pristine at this point. There will be not be a Kiffin, Freeze, or Briles at Tennessee. Heck they might even shy away from Pelini.

Deland sounds like he has pretty decent football IQ to me and I was think of him getting elevated some day, but not sure if this is the right time for either of us. I expect him to become OC at some point.

No Helton does not realize how that sounds.

If Tyson is the one calling 3rd and 4th down and red zone offense, then I would rather see him leave then Tee.

Shown the door? Hardly. He's just acknowledging that fact that when the time comes, he thinks Tee will be ready to step up and be a head coach.

If I were Tee and I read that quote, I'd be honored to hear those words. That's high praise, not "being shown the door".

I don't know if Coach McCullough's the man for drawing up an offensive game plan yet. He may be, but I don't have anything to base that on.

What I do know is I've heard he's a good recruiter, and I think a visit from him bringing the fire, enthusiasm, and professionalism he clearly brings to his unit to a kid's living room followed by Coach Helton bringing faith, family, and football sounds like a hell of a 1 / 2 punch.

Keary Colbert was the connection to DM, not Swann, not Tee. Jim McElwain should be brought in to complement the OCs. USC will have a 10th assistant in 2018, and JM would prob stick around for a couple of years before a school reaches out to him for HC. Oh yeah another ex-QB, but losts of expereince as a receivers and ST assistnat as well as QB/OC as well. Forget his stay at Florida, despite success the first years, he was never comfortable of fit thr culture there. Just not a Spurrier type guy

I suppose if Tee is persuaded to Coach Tennessee they'll dub it T-Ball or T-Baller?

If tee leaves, he will recruit coaches from sc.

I would not be surprised if Tyson goes with him as his OC.

    He might take others...

No, this is pretty standard, part of the coaching fraternity, regardless of whether Tee stays or leaves. Maintaining good relations is part of being in the club.

I remember when Coach O was trying to recruit Joe McKnight, and when it looked like he wasn't going to Ole Miss, Ed helped steer him to Pete, so no other SEC school would get him.

It doesn't look like he is going to Tennessee since there is significant smoke out there that Tennessee is going to hire Purdue's coach. But there are other openings...... would definitely not want Tee to take DM....
