Erik, what was the main reason to keep Clay can’t coach, can’t recruit Helton?

I don’t really buy the stability answer because when you don’t produce that starts the innuendo, questions about will he be fired which creates instability which we saw last year with some top California players saying they didn’t even consider USC because they don’t develop players to get to the next level.

Once USC hires a defensive coordinator, could there be more movement on the staff?

Was a little surprised we hired a slot/TE assistant, which makes us overweight on the offensive side... Maybe it was done to show TE recruit Jack Yary and WR Gary Bryant that we're going to emphasize the TE/slot more. Anyway, do we have any coaching slots left after we fill D coordinator and special teams?

    Erik,
Can we get rid of the basketball articles on the football board? I actually follow the BB team but I don't want to see that stuff mixed in with football which is about a thousand times more important. Plus, even with a top-seven recruiting class, the team is going nowhere because of a Clay Helton-level incompetent and unqualified hack running the team. Hopefully, his tenure with the school will end sooner rather than later as well.

Thank you for your great work, professionalism and persistence covering the football program during these very dark times. It can't be easy. I know I couldn't do it.

Where are you seeing basketball posts on the football board? I haven’t seen any recently. Let me know and I’ll move them to the basketball board.

Is there any indication from the school administration that the football program should be a higher priority than it was under the past administrations? If not, where or what do you think will change that perspective?

    Erik,

With Austin Jacksons departure, any idea of LT grad transfers out there? If no other OL leaves early. Predict your starting 5.
    LT Mackenzie
    LG AVT
    C Neilon
    RG Vorhees /jimmons
    RT jimmons /Rodriguez

    Scary thin!

I don't think any newcomers can play without spring ball, too bad no early entries.

Coach clueless will luck himself into finding a replacement thru the portal. Lady Luck seems to be on his side.

Perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology. I'm referring to the basketball articles by Rich Ruben that keep showing up in the USC Football web page. Thanks

Personally I have no problem with it. At the least it's a reminder to read Rich's articles, which have been very informative.

Erik, do you think there's any truth to the beliefs of Plaschke or whichever LA Times blowhard's article I read that declares that Bohn and Folt have decided to clean up the mess in the athletic department before focusing on fixing the football program? It kind of makes sense and provides a ray of hope but Bohn and Folt have a long way to go before most of us will trust them to make the right moves for SC's flagship athletic program. Please provide your insight about this. Thanks.

Erik, are you as concerned as I am about our QB depth? There's no guarantee that Fink or Daniels won't opt for the portal (Matt for a 2nd time), assuming Slovis is named starter. If either one goes portal, we're literally two hits away from...who? We start out the season with Alabama, who will no doubt bring extreme violence, and Slovis' blind side will have a new guy trying to keep him upright.

I believe you had mentioned we have an offer out to a QB recruit now, but that's all I've heard in terms of options. Any other possibilities you've been hearing, either by recruit or transfer portal?

Bohn cleaning our the athletic department is a move in the right direction but how much of a difference do you think that will make in eventually replacing Helton with a big name coach? Isn’t the BOT the ones standing in the way of that happening?

Based on the 2020 game schedule, do you think the SC road record will be as pathetic as last season's?

What is our future as regards a head coach?
Bring over a big name like Urban?
Bring in a promising coach with potential?
