    That is Fn BS.

The power of the USC brand is arguably the best in CFB. No other program could have stayed above water during those sanctioned seasons. And despite a complete turd HC, we still won 10 games!

All it takes is a good hire and we are back to cooking with grease.

We bring a cat like Meyer in, it’s P12 champion in yr one, playoffs in yr two.

    Have some Faith.

kinda ironic that SC didn’t go bowling well after there was “stability”

not a kiffin fan but what he did was remarkable (save for that 2012 season)

Listening to ESPNU yesterday and the talk was USC acts like a lot of spoiled brats wanting a coach fired when they are in first place. You might want to hold on the Helton bashing until there is a better reason. Bottom line is he had one real bad season after a Rose Bowl win and a conference champion win. If the standard is really playoff team only and nothing else, we need to fire all the coaches in football except about 4. How about we wait and see how the next few games play out. OK bash me

Recruits know Clay is dead man walking, thus the poor ranking.

McAlpine was a great hire. Lopes was involved more than Pat though. So that's what....one, out of?

Without a doubt. The only thing I would add is, at this point in time, only 3 men's sports earn more revenue than women's softball. "The Department of Education reports revenue on at least 30 men's college sports, so at least 27 men's college sports are not doing as well today at women's softball." And that's really been in the last 15 or so years. I think the bruins had somewhere around $1.5M in revenue last year. Arizona, ASU, Washington, Oregon are also plus-revenue....not sure how much.

    Diversion over.

Perhaps it was, but not today. The bama brand is much stronger. And clearly, while impossible to absolutely quantify, the multiple scandals have hurt the brand, even on the football field.

    Re: Bowling.....Result of shetty coaching.

Kiffin was semi successful BECAUSE of USC....which was the point of my post.

    you missed the point too.

Bama is obviously a better program today. But they would not have have stayed above water like SC. Our situation in SoCal, conference, academics, endowment, Hollywood....make it easier for us.

You are FOS as usual. Bama has twice the $$$ as SC. Without those $$$ Najim Harris and Tua stay on the west coast where the belong. USC getting about what they paid for in Helton

I am glad that Clay isn't being paid much. Then we don't have to pay as much when we fire him after the ucla game.

If we are always looking for a bargain, then we are never going to get back to national prominence. USC needs to quit lying about titles being important. We have a chance at an elite coach...who is working at FSN down the street. Pay him his market rate. Give him whatever he needs to be successful. Top assistants. Top support staff. Watch the Coliseum sell out with an additional 25K fans per game. Watch donations go up. Watch Carol Folt work wealthy donors in the suites for more money for our university. Watch the P12 improve as USC gets better and more fans start to watch.

You have to spend money to make money. Right now, USC is hemorrhaging money.

Sure about that?? Looks like Shaw has peaked at Stanford, but he's still done a way better job than Helton

    Shaw: 3 Rose Bowls in 4 years....winning 2
    5-3 Bowl record
4 × PAC 12 coach of the year
    .739 winning %

    Helton: 1 Rose Bowl appearance/victory
    2-2 Bowl record
    0 × PAC-12 coaching awards
    .643 winning %

Remember, Shaw is facing much more difficult circumstances than Clay. USC, being the only blueblood program in the PAC 12, has built in advantages over every school West of the Rockies. Only incompetence, from those in charge, can keep USC from being the bully on the block in the PAC 12.

Did we REALLY stay above water? It's a marathon, not a sprint and right now, we ain't on the "A" team.

You seem to forget that Saban wanted to test his coaching chops in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins. He was an utter failure there. He couldn't get out of Miami fast enough and found a nice landing spot in Alabama. It goes to show, if you're successful at one level, doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be successful at another.....

Our hiring practices have hurt the program far more than sanctions.
